It’s not required. If you feel as though your application and essay reflects those activities/achievements/extracurriculars etc, there is no need to do the upload part. Choose the achievements which you think are most relevant and if that’s a mix of college and high school ones, that’s okay. If you feel your college ones are sufficient, only include those. @nduclaunc
I just got an email response back from UNC. They may adjust your status when they are reviewing your transcript. That being said, I will have 64 credits prior enrollment, but few of the class are not transferable in my opinion, so they might consider me as a sophomore which my HS transcript will still be given weight in this case. While I just hope they focus more on my college transcript than HS’s.
I did not include any High School activities on my common app even though I still have couple spots left to fill up, I chose not to because I have got out high school almost two years, and seem UNC focus more on your college experience for junior applicants…
Also, does anyone the middle 50% of transfer GPA? I couldn’t find it on the internet and UNC website only tell you the avg of GPA.
@HSstudentNC you’re so helpful. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. Excited for our transfer journey, I’ll certainly keep up with how it goes for you
@UNCISMYDREAM totally understandable. Currently I’m a freshman in college and I’m applying as a sophomore to UNC (I’ll have just shy of 40 credit hours after this semester) so I’m debating highschool activities for it. We’ll see, I think I’ve been blessed with being in the right place and having the right networks for involvement, I’ve gotten lucky during my time in college. I’ll decide that later on.
Also, to anyone wondering, you can also get someone to submit a rec (not through common app) by mailing / emailing to addresses on the transfer checklist portion on UNC’s site.
@UNCISMYDREAM I tried looking everywhere, but I couldn’t find any information on middle 50% GPA range for transfers. After looking at the UNC 2017 transfer thread, there are students who got in with well below the average of 3.7. In addition, there were a number of students admitted out of state as sophomores. @nduclaunc Also according to that thread, UNC has released decisions the past few years on April 7th sometime after 2pm. So while the wait is still long, at least there’s no guessing about the day decisions will be released.
@HSstudentNC Good point. That’s certainly a bright spot, as admissions can be very anxiety ridden even without an ambiguous decision date. One thing I did always like about UFlorida (my current University) is that they were transparent and gave an upfront decisions date and exact time from the start.
The decision used to release mid-April, it could be around on April 15. Every year is different.
Hmm, just got promoted to Junior Member, what does that mean?
I just checked past years threads again, the dates do vary. I was wrong, I guess the date will be just sometime in early-mid April.
I took a bunch of AP classes in high school and got credit for them at my current school, taking off a year of my degree. I’m considering transferring and a lot of the same AP scores would still apply, taking off about a year at UNC too. I’d be considered a junior if I stayed at my college even though it would only be my second year, should I apply as an upcoming sophomore or junior?
If you have 60+ transferable credits, you should apply as a junior. If less, apply as a sophomore. If you’re not sure how many credits you have because of the AP classes, you should try and find a transcript or credit evaluation from your college. @Ameliarose
Can someone please chance me? Thanks!

Hey, I was an OOS sophomore transfer back in 2013/2014 and I went to grad school at UNC! I was on Franklin Street for the national championship last year. Now I’m working in Raleigh. Lmk if y’all have any questions about life at UNC; I’d be happy to help! Btw don’t ask me to chance you because I have no idea.
@ceilingroofgoat what was your GPA when you applied for transfer?
@UNCISMYDREAM 3.6 and I finished undergrad with a 3.9 at UNC.
How is the housing for transfers? I visited last year but I didn’t really get a chance to see all the housing. @ceilingroofgoat
