UNC-Asheville Help

I've thought about applying to UNC-Asheville for the Fall 2011 semester. Based on the following information, how much merit aid should I expect:

GPA W/U--3.57/4.29

SAT I CR/M/W--730/610/610

Attend an Early College High School, and have been awarded the President's List honor twice.

Currently President of my school's Interact Club.

My high school does not offer AP, but dual-credit CC classes.

Will be challenging AP Lit Exam this May.

Will be retaking the SAT I this Summer.

Will likely participate in a drama production this Summer, and maybe into the Fall.

Will take SAT II Lit this Fall.

Will join Phi Theta Kappa (National CC Honors Society) this Fall, and might receive officership.

Will be participating in NanoWriMo this November.

Will have great recommendations from my English IV teacher and one of my philosophy instructors from the CC. Also, a Spanish instructor who has had me for two courses will definitely write me a great recommendation as well.

If anyone wants to dish out some tips on how to maximize my potential for receiving a decent amount of aid from this school, please feel free to do so. I'm really wanting to continue my studies through the graduate level, and I don't want to be drowning in debt the entire time I'm trying to study and perform well.

I usually hate it when people bump threads, but I really want some feedback on this.

you’ve done a ton…just apply and see

You seem like an ideal candidate to me!

DS also wants to go there. Maybe he’ll see you there. :)

BTW–DS sent in some “extra credit” essays, in addition to the Common App essays. I don’t know whether that will tip the scale WRT merit aid…we shall see, I guess. Like you, we are very cost-conscious and debt-averse. I understand the Laurels Scholarships can range anywhere from $1,000 to full ride (yearly). The more the better!

I’m assuming you’re in-state…? As you know, even without merit aid, the COA is pretty reasonable…and there are always grants and work/study.
