UNC at Chapil Hill or UT at Austin....

Overall impression of campus? Diversity of student population? College town vs city life? Graduate placement services?

I checked out UNC and UVA while I was doing college visits in high school. They are both similar to UT in a lot of ways. The main differences are that UT is much larger (about twice as large as UNC), UT is more diverse (more Hispanics and Asians, but fewer African-American), and UT is basically in an urban setting (8 blocks from downtown Austin and next to the Capitol complex). Also, the Greek scene is much more obvious at UNC and UVA. I first got accepted by NYU but drove by parents crazy by deciding I wanted to go to A&M at the last minute. I was too late for regular admission but got offered Blinn TEAM. I didn’t hate it but the two schools and College Station were a bad fit for me. I still have friends in College Station and they love it so maybe it was me more than the scene. I ended transferring to UT and start tomorrow. All this is more that you asked about, but I’m just trying to say that UT is the best school for me because it has the best mix of academics, college life, social scene, athletics and city life. NYU, UNC, UVA and A&M each had some of these characteristics, but not all of them.

thank you for your opinion…it does really help!
