I had three recs from teachers (2 were alumni), and my counselor.
I feel like my essays were pretty solid I wrote one about how my time volunteering helped shape who I was. I chose the comfort food essay from the supplement, I wrote about a family members recipe and how it reminds me of my family and how instrumental they were in shaping me as a person.
UNC is my dream school and it always has been.
I know my GPA is a little low but that was because my middle school teachers refused to approve honors classes for me my freshman year. My counselor explains this in her rec.

It looks like you are quite involved outside of school, but EC’s come after academics, and it’s in that department you are lacking. Your 1880 SAT score and 3.65 GPA falls below their range, which makes it appear to be a high match or more likely a low reach.

First of all, don’t take our comments to heart. I have yet to find a poster who actually works in admissions. So these opinions on your chances are extremely arbitrary.

You seem fine, but don’t have great test scores. That shouldn’t matter too much. And EC’s don’t always fall below academics, but you haven’t done anything too substantial (say, start a business) so they might. You clearly took a lot of hard classes, it’s hard to say if that was detrimental to your image (grade-wise), but it shows you enjoy challenges. I hope your essays really are strong, that can make or break your acceptance.
Otherwise, it all depends on the pool of applicants they get. Are you out of state? State schools prefer that. If you don’t get into Chapel Hill, you can probably get into another public school, and even transfer if you like.

Besides your scores, I would say you might be in. Due to being in-state. I say this because I have a friend that applied, in-state with similar stats and ECs as your’s. She got in.

Hey man, I am applying OOS with a 4.2w and a 2260 SAT ( 710 CR, 780 M, and 770 W), w/ a 35 ACT. Considering that UNC must accept 82% in state it looks like you would have about a 60/40 shot at acceptance. Could you chance me as an out-of-stater?

Drakdrac, I’m no admissions expert so take this with a grain of salt. UNC is a highly competitive school for in state students but is so much more competitive for OOS. Your test scores are AMAZING but your weighted GPA is kinda low especially for an OOS applicant. However, I will say that especially with OOS students I think GPA doesn’t mean quite as much as test scores because so many states are notorious for either deflation/inflation of GPAs. Assuming you have decent EC and community service in would say you have a pretty good chance of getting in! Good luck!
