Ugh should i even apply with a SAT score of 1250/1600? I'm planning on taking the SAT again in Dec. but i was going to apply ED. but deadline is Nov. 2
i have a uw gpa of 3.5 w gpa 4.1 and im in top 20% of my class.

I went to project uplift, my dad went UNC and works and the UNC hospital, in state student, and I a first gen. African. (don't know if those will help me)

Some of my extra curriculars include, NHS, NTHS, Spanish club officer, med science club, orchestra (principle stand for 2nd violin section/played for 6 yrs) tech crew for theater, involved with my church(ushering, CROP walk), done some babysitting over the summer, nominated/went to girls state, and some other small awards.

Also is there any difference between ED and RD for UNC? Thanks!!

HelloKitty55 . . . UNC’s deadline on Monday is EA (early action) and is not binding like ED (early decision). You’d hear sometime in January whether you are accepted, rejected or deferred and, if accepted, have until May 1 to commit. Somewhere on the admissions page of the UNC web site there is a Q & A about the two deadlines (the RD is sometime in January, can’t remember exact date). I don’t think there is an advantage to one deadline over the other. The latest SAT test date that they’ll consider for EA is the November one coming up next weekend. Applying EA means that Carolina does not have the time to consider your senior fall grades (unless they request to see them late in their decision process), so if you are on the fence and doing very well this year, you might want to apply RD when senior fall grades will be a factor. Also, the essays don’t look easy to me to crank out in a weekend, so if you haven’t started those, then I’d for sure recommend applying RD.

Thank you smbsmom. I guess i should have re-worded my last question differently. i wanted to know if there is an advantage between the ED and RD. I have started the essays but not quite done. i do have another essay i wrote already that i could use for the long essay.
