When I applied to UNC Chapel Hill, I was told that I had about a 10% chance of getting in mainly because I was from out of state and that I shouldn't even waste the money for the application fee. I just wanted to let everyone know that I did get in (early admission at that) and although your dream school may seem a stretch, you should apply anyway. This was my original post:

I am a black female from South Carolina that is currently a senior in high school. I am a graduate of the MYPIB Program and am currently in the IB Diploma Program. I made a 6 on the IB Spanish Exam and a 5 on the IB Math Studies Exam (out of 7). My unweighted GPA is a 3.86 and my SC weighted GPA is a 4.67. My combined SAT is a 1900 and it breaks down to 580 Math (which I know is just terrible, but I do want to be a history major), a 680 critical reading score and a 640 writing score. I have done over 300 Community and Service hours since the beginning of ninth grade and I have been historian, treasurer, and vice president of various clubs. I also feel like I wrote a pretty good common app essay. I know its a stretch right now, but from experience, does anyone honestly feel that I have a chance to get in?
