UNC Chapel Hill EA Applicants 2018

The chancing on this page is getting out of control

I keep on seeing the same chance me posts again and again. Let’s keep this thread a bit separate.

Don’t know if anybody else saw this, but the UNC admissions blog said that decisions would come out by end of january, no date, and will all be out at once, not in waves.

I’ve been reading the admissions blog like crazy, along with EA threads from previous years. It’s so nerve wracking! There is a very slim chance that decisions will come out anytime before the 20th or so, but I can’t help checking every other day. I think I’m going crazy.

Any word on when Scholarship Day will be? I have no idea if my son will be invited, but he has 2 weekends in February already committed to scholarship interviews/days at other schools, and trying to anticipate and schedule is getting complicated. Any info is appreciated!

Rumor has it there might only be one scholars day in March. I also wish they would let us know the date. I live in California and logistics can become an issue especially since I wont have a car to get around with.

It would make sense to only have one Scholar’s day in March; otherwise, there’d have to be another one in mid-late February. They’re sending out notification of Scholar’s Day/Honors/Etc. after decisions this year, so there couldn’t be any dates in early February.

There’s a reply to one of the comments here that specifies the send out dates for invitations:
[This Week?s FAQs | University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill | Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://admissions.unc.edu/admissions-blog/2014/01/07/this-weeks-faqs/)

Anybody know numbers for the Scholarship/Honors Carolina Invites? Like what number get in or the typical stats/resume of one? I know I asked this along time earlier but I don’t think I got many responses.

According to the admissions blog, “About 250 first-year students are invited to join” Honors Carolina, and “Last year, Carolina awarded more than 250 merit scholarships to incoming first-year students.”
So, 250 seems to be the magic number for both.

This link says that they expect to enroll about 400 incoming students into Honors Carolina:

Do you guys think that there’s a possibility they’ll wait until the 31st?

On the site that likethesunrise posted the link to, in the questions section somebody asked when scholarship day will be and the admissions officer responded that it will be February 21st for Early Action applicants. Not very much time to make travel arrangements.

It seems likely that decision day is not the 15th. I feel like we would have gotten the instruction email by now on how to receive our decisions. If we don’t get an email by Wednesday, I’d say it’s next Friday (based on past patterns). But, what do I know?!

@annazee13 I think that since they extended the deadline this year there’s a possibility that they could wait until the 31st. I’m just going to tell myself they’re not coming until then so if they come early it will just be a pleasant surprise.

Oh wow, I feel really stupid for not noticing the comment about Scholarship Day being February 21. Oops!

As for the issue about the number of Honors invitations, I’ve seen the 400 number, as well. The 250 figure could have easily been a mistake on the part of admissions. I’m going to hope that it’s as high as 400.

I’ve been predicting next Friday because anything this week just seems far too soon. I really don’t think (or hope) that they would postpone the decisions until the 31.

.___. I just want to know.

The fact that scholar day is feb 21 seems to make it unlikely that decisions wouldn’t come out until jan 31. I think the 24th is the most likely date.

@collegebound1000 that’s a pretty good point. I doubt they’d only give people 3 weeks notice. Also, the fact that they send scholarship day invitations AFTER decisions are posted makes me think that it’ll be the 24th

Are you required to attend Scholarship Day to get a merit scholarship?

look what the connect carolina homepage says!!!
“There will be an outage affecting ConnectCarolina and other systems on Thursday, Jan. 23, beginning at 5:00pm and ending at approximately 12:00am as part of the Spring census (the official University enrollment reporting). All faculty and staff are requested to please log out of ConnectCarolina by 5:00pm on Jan. 23. Students will NOT be able to use ConnectCarolina for all functions during this time.”

maybe this is when they’ll post EA admissions!!!
