zbsherman - UNC will notify you via mail (the old fashioned kind) and through ConnectCarolina. Look for the decision around the last week in January…

Matrixsurgeon, last year my daughter got invited to scholarship day by email about a week before she was accepted. I could not convince her that she was accepted until she got the formal acceptance. They notified her about the results if scholarship day about 2-4 (don’t remember) weeks after scholarship day.

Who knows what they will do this year.

Does Carolina look at their regular decision applicants before releasing the decision for EA applicants? A few of my friends and I were talking about this earlier today because some very qualified people are applying RD from my school while we applied EA. I’m just wondering, for example, if Carolina accepted me but hadn’t released the decision yet, but then saw someone way more qualified from my school who applied RD, could they retract my acceptance in order to make room for that person? I’m instate, and I know that they try to have a certain level of representation from different areas of NC. I hope this question makes sense… haha. Thanks!

Based on the date they release EA decisions, I would guess that there is no way they can review all the RA apps before releasing the EA results. I would not worry about it.

anyone know when will the decisions come out for in state EA applicants?

annazee13…That is why they defer some EA applicants to RD

Chances??

I applied for in-state tuition (I have a beach house there since June) and haven’t heard anything about that yet either…

Very nervous because UNC is my #1 What do you guys think?

emie116 - In-State status is unlikely, given NC is not your primary residence and that qualification rules are strict.

If you are not considered in-state, your chances are significantly reduced. As you are aware, OOS standards are very high and admission rates are quite low. Many factors go in to the decision process, rigor of academics, class standing, standard test scores, etc. Realistically, your grade point averages look low, even for in state acceptance.

Good luck to you…

Does UNC really not notify until the end of January? OSU gave the same date for when I would be notified by, but I found out today.

Best of luck to all 2018 applicants!

Ellieb318 - Really, UNC does not notify until near the end of January. Research other posts, including mine, for details…

I heard that this is where people that don’t get into Duke go. Is that true?

This is where people who get rejected from Duke go

According to the admissions blog, 17,000 students have applied early action this year.

That’s crazy, does anyone know how many applied last year?

I just read the same post, what is usually their acceptance rate for early action?

17,000? Great. Guess I should pack my bags for UNC-W… ':(
