@everyone
I am guessing that the date will be January 17th or 24th… I think that the 31st is way too late.

The 17th?! How awesome would that be…

@ncbug19
Haha you took swimming? How fun was that?
I live about 45 minutes away from Charlotte! But not near Mooresville,
I live about 15 minutes away from Gastonia

Ahh the 17th is really soon, but I don’t think it’ll be that early
The 24th seems more plausible

The 17th would be amazzzzzingg

just curious, are you guys submitting the CSS/PROFILE before the decisions or after?

@collegebound1000. First order of business OOS is getting accepted. Your stats seem to indicate that you may be one of the lucky few. Leaving your race blank prob won’t matter. They may assume you are white, cause if you were A URM, you would have indicated that. Not sure abt merit scholarships, but at the visit we attended, it was stressed that there are not many. I do think they meet 100% of demonstrated need, though.

They give amazing financial aid. Yes 100% of demonstrated need is met. There is very little merit aid given out but there is some!

I know where Gastonia is! Haha yeah I took swimming and it was so much fun. If you like to swim it’s the best lfit. A lot of them are just a ton of running.

My common app essay was pretty good, and my supplement essay was even better. Recs will be pretty good.
I also had bone cancer sophomore year (wrote my common app essay about it) which brought my GPA down because I had to take really easy classes. I spent the whole year in the hospital but I still got straight As.
My dad works for the university and my mom works for the hospital.
My sister also went there for undergrad.
I live in Chapel Hill and go to Chapel Hill High School.

Chance me please!

Haha I don’t think swimming is for me… I can’t even swim! But, I love to run :D

@rk6454, you seem like you have a really good chance! Your GPA is good, and your ACT score is what they’re looking for! I’m sorry to hear about your bone cancer, but it’s amazing that you overcame it!

rk6454…I cant imagine you wont get in…you have the grades/test scores/EC and your dad works for the university

I know that OOS acceptance to UNC is comparable to Ivy acceptance so I’m really nervous! If anyone can offer me chances I’d be grateful!!

@creuland, you’re pretty well-rounded and have good test scores overall. You’re US history SAT subject test score is a little low, but on the whole I think you’ll get accepted.

So far, I think that everyone on this thread has a good chance at getting into UNC-CH!! All you guys are special and have used your time in high school to do what you love and will be great at whatever you do in life!

In State Female
GPA: uw-3.8, w-4.56
Rank: top 10%
AP Biology-senior yr
AP Chemistry-junior yr
AP Calculus-junior yr
Took honors in everything else.
I am doing an internship the spring semester with a local optometrist (I want to eventually go to Optometry School).
Here is what I’m afraid is going to hurt me:
SAT:1460 (but I am registered to take it again Jan. 25)
I think both essays should be really good. My aunt proofread it and she graduated from UNC in Biology with minor in Chemistry. She kind of knew what admissions looks for in an essay.
Recommendation letters should be great too.
I have been a member of the following school clubs each year: Beta Club, AFS Club, FCA Club and FBLA Club.
I have lettered in Academics every year.
I was on the cheerleading team my freshman and sophomore years but then went with my passion which was swimming. I have been on the swim team my junior and senior years and lettered in varsity swimming and hope to letter in swimming again this year.
Volunteer/Community Work - I have ALOT of hours over my 4 years in high school including being an assistant cheer coach for a youth cheerleading team in youth football season.
I am very active in my youth group at church and also teach a Sunday School class during the 2nd service each week. I also have been on 3 mission trips with our youth group and gone to Christian Conferences each summer in Florida with my youth group also.
Last March, I got a job and started working.
I know my SAT scores are really going to hurt me but I’m hoping my strengths in everything else will overpower the SAT score. I read that sometimes this can happen. What does everyone think? Please be honest. Thank you! And good luck to everyone else!

@ddrenett, is you score out of 1600 or 2400?

@annazee13 I may have been off on my SAT scores. Reading/Math combo score is 1200 and my writing was 380.

Does anybody know when scholarship stuff is offered at UNC? I’m a Morehead semifinalist, but I dont think Ill actually get the scholarship and was wondering when they offer the other scholarships.

How did you find out that you were a finalist?
