I was wondering what my chances would be if I applied ED to UNC next year. I am out of state student
GPA: 3.74(Unweighted)
SAT: 1950
ACT: 30
All of my classes are IB(7)
I am a member of 6 clubs and the president of one of them
I am a member of National Honor Society
GPA and test scores are a bit on the low side for OOS. Would also help if you expanded on your ECs some.
I don’t think you being accepted is very likely. It’s not that you’re under-qualified by any means, it’s just that UNC is SO hard to get into OOS. If you were in-state, I bet you would get in. UNC OOS is basically as hard as getting into some Ivies. I would still apply because there’s always a chance you can get in if you write a killer essay and get an awesome recommendation letter. We will both be applying to UNC EA this fall and I sincerely hope we both get in. Good luck!
UNC does not offer an ED option it’s either EA or RD. The only reason why you would not want to apply EA to UNC would be if your junior year final grades aren’t so hot and you think you can make better ones first semester senior year. Since you’re OOS to make your chances better you should try and boost your ECs maybe a few more and some leadership positions and it also wouldn’t hurt to retake the SAT or ACT and try for a higher score.
