UNC - Chapel Hill Fall 2015 Transfers

@GabekingSG‌ I am no professional, but a 3.9 GPA is very competitive, I would say you have a great shot.

@annec31‌ Sorry, I’m not sure what UNC’s average stats are for instate Community College transfers but I know they’re much more lenient with in state transfers!

Sent my college transcripts last month and UNC still says they don’t have them… I called last week so I sent them again today and am going to give them a call today. Also went to my schools registration office (they handle the transcripts) and talked to them. They gave me a receipt that shows it was sent out mid February so I’m trying to figure out the problem asap. This stuff is stressful!

I’ve only applied to UNC and NC state. Bad idea not having many back ups…

I want to hear back soon so bad! Haha I’m so anxious, and worried about which college I will choose if I get in.

What sucks is that I don’t really have any ECs of note (made the deans/presidents list multiple times, and I’m supposed to get an invite to joint phi theta kappa soon, but that’s really it) since I had to work for awhile and had some health issues as well. I don’t even have a teachers recommendation letter (although they said it wasn’t required). My saving grace is my 3.9 GPA, and hopefully my essays… Hoping for the best!

@GabekingSG‌ That’s pretty much my story also haha. 4.0 GPA, good (in my opinion) essays, presidents list every semester, a few HS EC’s but nothing besides PTK in college because I work like 25 hours per week. Also two letters of recommendation, one from a UNC alum. Hopefully they understand that working takes away a lot of my time.

@GabekingSG‌ and @NCXfer‌

Exactly my situation as well. I’m really sad my GPA is a 3.9 though. That one B ruined it all :frowning:

@strandedinhell‌ yeah i had like 2 B+s and an A-… But I mean i wouldn’t trip if you’ve had more than like 50 credits, the whole body of work should speak more than one or two Bs

chance me please.

Hey you guys I am a
second semester freshman at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. My major is Communications. I know that UNC has an awesome communications program, so I am really hoping that I get in. I absolutely love to visit Chapel Hill and spend time on the campus.

I was involved in numerous clubs in high school (NHS, NTHS, Leadership Team, Student Council, Jr. Civitans, Yearbook, Relay for Life, and the Varsity Women’s Basketball Team). Since I’ve only been at App for a full semester, I am only involved here in the College Republicans Club and the Baptist Christian Ministry.

My GPA during my first semester at App was a 3.94 with 17 credit hours. This semester I am taking 18 credit hours. My weighted GPA during high school was a 4.38.

My combined SAT scores for math, reading, and writing was a 1700 (I know that’s not the best). My ACT was a 25.

My high school principal wrote one of my recommendations and she is a UNC alum. The other recommendation came from my Math professor during my first semester at App.

I took my two essays to my University’s Writing Center. I really tried to prove that Chapel Hill is the place for me.

I wish you guys luck that have already posted on here! What do yall think my chances are?

there’s finally no more items on my to-do list… decisions usually come around mid-April right?

Yep. Around mid/end of april. I can’t focus on my CC courses… keep thinking about this.

jeez y’all are a bunch of future prodigies… Makes me feel uncomfortable about my chances lol

I have no idea what the transfer acceptance rate is, I keep seeing different numbers from all over the web.

@GabekingSG‌ , don’t worry. I feel the same. All I have is a 3.9 gpa from a local CC and that’s it :frowning:

@Southerngent‌ , If you search the right keywords on google you’ll get a link to UNC’s own website with their acceptance rates for sophomore and Junior transfers with average GPA’s as well.

@strandedinhell‌ found it, 43%, that’s a lot higher than I thought.

@strandedinhell‌ haha yeah same here

I made an account just for this.
I am an instate applicant from a Community College in the Triad. I highly doubt I will get in.

I couldnt take anything else because it would be wasteful and I took everything else as AP.
My mother had a TIA this summer, so although she is doing very well, I keep an eye on her. I had a lot so issues last semesters, I put them in my essay which were solid.

On Tuesday, they wanted my OOS HS transcript; now, my To-do list says nothing. What is that all about? I am panicking because I feel they denied me and didn’t need it.

you took only three classes? were you a full time student?

Every day gets more and more painful…
