UNC Chapel Hill or Georgetown?

Hello,

I was accepted to Chapel Hill (in-state), with a slot in their honors college (375 out of about 4000 freshmen are in the program) and a summer research program (about 175 are accepted). As I am in-state, the cost is about $20,000. This can be covered using my father's post 9/11 GI bill, so I would graduate debt free.
I was also accepted to Georgetown University. After their financial aid and the use of the GI bill, it comes to about $11,000 a year.
I am interested in an economics major, and I am hoping to enter the financial industry or perhaps attend law school. Is Georgetown worth the extra $$$, or should I stick to Chapel Hill?

For overall academic reputation, there is not much difference between the two schools. They both are excellent. One is in a nice part of a big city, one is a quintessential college town. I personally would prefer UNC unless there are very specific reasons favoring GTown in your mind that are enough to counterbalance the financial advantages of UNC.

I really think the only thing that could justify paying $40k more for Georgetown than Chapel Hill would be if you wanted to major in IR.

Considering your major and postgraduate plans, I say definitely go with UNC.
