UNC Chapel Hill Orientation - should parent attend?

Just wondering if anyone can tell me whether it is "worth it" for a parent to attend orientation. I've heard various opinions and would love to hear your thoughts.

Having been through it I’d say one parent should attend but if your student is doing it in one of the earlier sessions, you can opt to do it in the final session just prior to move in to save you the additional expense. There is some useful information dispensed, especially if this is your first going off to school. Their parents association is very well organized and if you are OOS there is even more info that you might find helpful.

Feel free to PM me with anything else.

Just checking if there are any additional thoughts on the topic.

My kids went to other big state u’s in NC. Both attended orientation on their own. They had no desire for us to accompany them. We are lifelong NC residents and they had some h.s. friends attending the same universities. OOS’ers may want to come with their kids.
