It’s a reach, but a bump in your verbal SAT scores might help. As of now, I’d say it’s unlikely; with a score improvement it will still be a reach, but less of one.

There’s a cap on OOS students and you’re not a legacy so odds are against you.

@MYOS1634 @woogzmama I just got my act results back today and I got a 33. Do you think that will help?
Reading (35) Math (35) Writing (30) Science (30)

Well it’ll help when they get to the few slots left for non hooked non athletes non legacies from OOS… but it still doesn’t make it likely. Likelier than most, certainly.
With a 32, you could get competitive or automatic merit at many places, from full tuition to full ride. What do you like at UNC-CH? There may be other universities that are easier to get into from OOS and offer generous scholarships (what’s your parents’ budget?)

I agree that it is unlikely. My dad had a 34 ACT and an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and a weighted of 4.5. Lots of great leadership and state and national level athlete and was rejected.

@MYOS1634 I have gone to sleep away camp in NC for 7 years and I just love the atmosphere. I like that it is a smaller school. Also, two of my cousins go there and my aunt and uncle went there. I mean it is not on the top of my list, but it would be cool to have options. My family makes too much money to qualify for any type of financial aid, but we don’t have enough money for the cost of college to not affect us. Also, I know I want to go to medial school. So, it doesn’t make sense to go to an expensive undergrad school when medical school will be more important and expensive.

A 33 will help; no guarantees, though.

Considering your stats, you should apply to UAlabama (main campus/Tuscaloosa), you’d have automatic admission to the Honors College, Honors dorms, and a full tuition scholarship. THe Honors college is one of the top ones in the country. In North Carolina, you’d get merit aid (not sure how much) at UNC Wilmington (beach setting) and Appalachian State (mountain setting). I suppose you’re looking into Elon and Davidson, too? College of Charleston would certainly give you top merit and their Honors College is very good, too.
