UNC Chapel Hill transfer chances?

You are all misunderstanding. I am saying that it is easier to get accepted as a freshman (~35%) than to get denied as a freshman, and then accepted as a transfer. I thought it was well known that that was the case for almost all schools.

And Tarheel, I don't care how many friends of yours have done it. An official statistic is more convincing than you saying " but 5 of my friends did it!". I could do that as well- "I have 5 friends who were accepted to Yale, therefore it is really easy to get into
Yale!!!"- see?

wrong thread

db9golf, the acceptance percentage last year for transfers was actually 38.4% based off the numbers from collegeboard, which is only about 3% higher than freshman. However, I believe a lot of state schools have a weaker transfer applicant pool than for freshman which may make it easier.

But TarHeelBound, Brown had a lower transfer acceptance rate last year (12%) than freshman (14%), so it is not easier to transfer into.

Way to contradict yourself kiddo. Not our problem you can't accept the fact that admission is easier as a transfer than straight out of HS. And to the above poster, this thread is on UNC-Chapel Hill, not Brown. Where'd we lose ya?

Uh, you are the one that originally brought up Brown you ignorant prick. Based on the posts I have read of yours, you certainly do not appear to be particularly intelligent. In fact, I take your transfer admission into UNC-CH as proof it is easier to get into as a transfer than as a freshman.

I did not contradict myself. The whole thread was a comparison of freshman acceptance rates and transfer (after being denied out of highschool) rates. While my post may have been a bit misleading, you should have assumed that I was staying on topic.

Furthermore, you still haven't addressed the fact that I was right. You instead took the coward's way and swiched topics. I will be waiting for a reply.

Yeah, well don't bring up Brown for changing the subject on what I'm telling you ya dip****.

This is too much drama for a message board on College Confidential.

Thanks for that comment TarHeel, it made so much sense :)

Enough of this online message board bickering. The transfer acceptance rate is higher than the freshman rate. That should be the end of the discussion. There is no possible way to find out the rejected in high school but accepted as a transfer rate, and similarly the notion that state school transfer pools are weaker than their freshman counterparts is pure speculation.

There's a possible way to find out the freshman denied- transfer acceptance rate. By TarHeel's method, you just count how many friends of yours have been able to do it. Simple as that! :)

I love how ronpaul is too much of a puss to admit he is wrong. Hey idiot, what part of db9golf's message can't you understand?

I am not wrong. Are you still denying that the freshman acceptance rate is higher than the transfer rate (when denied as a freshman)?

Yeah, db9golf, ronniepaulie is just too ignorant to admit his mistake. Much, much easier to get in as a transfer than right outta HS

Evading my question? And btw, db9golf stopped talking to you ages ago.

idiot boy. mr. clueless i see ronpaul. looks like you were wrong again buddy.

Hey all,

I’m applying to UNC chapel hill as an OOS junior transfer for Fall 2010. My stats:

HS gpa: 3.6
lots of ECs, NHS, blah, blah

College: Boston University
gpa: 3.55 (taken lots of hard classes) double majoring in Bio and International Relations
EC’s: running club, editor on international relations review, work in a Diabetes research lab
Also on scholarship here.

So I didn’t apply to UNC-CH out of high-school, the low gpa would definitely have kept me out.

I’m wondering if any of you got in last year and if so, what are my chances?

Thanks a bunch

Haha this is the most ridiculous CC thread I have ever seen. Definitely entertaining though. runnergirl4 I have very similar stats to you, but am coming from a less prestigious school (Chapman University in Orange California). Im hoping to major in poly sci so if anyone has any responses to her stats I would appreciate it greatly as well!! Btw my sat was 1860 and I didn’t take the act. What were your sat/act scores runnergirl?

So i am in a cc right now, which has 12 hours as full time. I have a 4.0 GPA and in the phi kappa honors society. I will be taking biology 111 and 112, calculus also completed by the end of this semester. so i will have 40 transferred credits. My high school gpa was 2.5 however, and i havent taken the sats yet, but i will. So what are my transfer chances as a Sophomore?
