UNC Chapel Hill Transfer chances

Applying as a junior transfer

I did very poorly in high school. I did not finish.

I received my GED about 5 or 6 years ago.

I started going to college at a local community college 1 1/2 years ago. I will complete my Associate of Science degree in May.

GED scores--
Writing: 97th percentile
Social Studies: 97th percentile
Science: 97th percentile
Reading: 90th percentile
Mathematics: 99th percentile
Total Score: 3570
Battery Average: 714

College grades--

58 credits so far, enrolled in another 13 to finish degree
GPA = 3.776

It would be better but I took 2 classes in high school for college credit and received a 'B' and 'C' which lowers my GPA quite a bit. Those two classes were taken 7 years ago.

A little more info…

My GPA of the actual classes I’ve taken at my current school is 3.92 (but as I said, those two classes I took 7 years ago for college credit are included on my transcript…and it clearly has (2002) beside it to show it wasn’t taken recently)

Here is a grading scale I found for GED scores. Not sure if any school actually looks at it. Apparently you just take your battery average (mine is 714) and match it up with your estimated hs GPA.

GED Score Estimated GPA
Below 300 = 0-1.0
300-400 = 1.5-1.9
401-500 = 2.0-2.9
501-600 = 3.0-3.4
601-700 = 3.5-3.7
701-800 = 3.8-4.0
