UNC-chapel hill transfer?

I'm looking to transfer into UNC next year. I'm currently a freshman at the University of Miami (FL).

I graduated high school with around a 4.2 (I can't even remember anymore!) and I had a 31 on the ACT. I just missed the top 10% -- I was 22/201 or something like that.

I'm not sure what my GPA is going to be after first semester but it definitely won't be a 4.0 or anything... probably around a 3.5. My courseload is fairly difficult I guess:
1st semester:
chem I
chem I lab
calculus I
geography
intro to theatre
english composition I
(17 credits .. the maximum that freshmen can take)

2nd semester:
chem II
chem II lab
calculus II
accelerated spanish
english composition II
intro to psychology
(again, 17 credits).

I also have an additional twelve credits from dual enrollment in high school, so I'll have a total of 46 credits.

I had a lot of extracurriculars in high school so I'm not worried about that but I've participated in less things in college. I'm in a sorority so that gets me involved in a lot of community service work.. I'm in the pre-medical honor society (alpha epsilon delta).. i was a site leader for a campus-wide community service project, and a few other things.

Also, I have a brother at UNC -- probably doesn't help much, if any at all.

So, what do you think my chances are? I'm not getting my hopes up! I enjoy going to UM so if I don't get in then I won't be totally crushed, but I really would like to go there! Thanks for any help!

bumppp... opinions anyone?

u just want to get into UNC? your probably in... im surprised you didnt get in out of highschool. why do you want to go? for what program? Its like asking about whether someone wants to get into UMICH. yeah you can get in with a 3.4 but if you want their business program you need as close to a 4.0 as possible. get it? we need more info pertaining what your plan on studying etc.

you have a good shot especially when residency isn't considered for transfers. I'll be applying for fall '08 admission there as well as I'm a resident so good luck and maybe I'll see you there.

sorry that i left out that information, pyune. i'm just looking to be admitted to their general college of arts & sciences or whatever it's called at unc. i'm majoring in chemistry with a pre-med track. thanks for your responses!

you should be fine. i think carolina has a decently high transfer acceptance rate.

it does.. but they heavily favor juniors

I was wondering if I have a shot transferring at UNC?

High School 3.35
College 3.769
SAT 1050
Deans List
Good Activities/honors and awards
Also i just want to be admitted as a sophomore into general college and will have 32 hrs of credit by second semester. Also i have about 15 people who graduated at chapel hill in my family please help thanks!!!

your gpa and dean's list is definitely a step in the right direction! and of course they are known to love legacies.. good luck :)

How good of shot do i have? i mean college gpa weighs the most right?

does unc take your intended major into consideration when the look at your app? when i applied it said that transfer students get put into the college of arts and sciences or something for the first year anyways. im pretty sure when i checked off business administration it said that my intended major will not affect my application at all. maybe the business school is harder to get into for transfers with junior standing. any ideas?

OMG, Alison, is that you? It's that certain crazy, curly-haired boy from AP Bio. I think you have a good shot, you deserve better than UM (no offense to all those 'canes out there). Doing the same thing as you are, transfer time.
