I just got accepted from the waitlist at Notre Dame and was wondering which would you pick Nd or UNC and why. I OOS at UNC so the in state tuition is not a factor to consider. Please give me your pick and your reason. I am planning to go pre med and I like both schools and that is why I am having trouble deciding.

I don't know how the pre-med program at ND is but here's a past thread you should check out: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=4110328

I really don't know much about pre-med at both institutions but I can tell you about the atmosphere at ND since I visited 2 months ago. If you want a family atmosphere, ND is your place to be. The energy you get from being with your friends and hype from sports on the ND campus is something unique. You do everything on campus since South Bend, from my perspective, doesn't provide you with many opportunities.

i go to unc and premed is EXTREMELY strong... bio and chem depts get the most funding, and i've been told that a degree from unc w/premed is a ticket into med school, also like 20% of the school is premed too

I'd choose UNC.

But that's only due to personal preferrence. Both schools are equally strong.

Have you visited both places? The vibes are very different.ND's reputation, history, prestige, school spirit, international renown, athletic dominance, alumni network, and Catholic character add up to quite a powerhouse.I'm amazed you vacillate.

I would 100% without a doubt choose UNC over ND.

I would go to UNC, but a laid-back, non-religious, divers, beautiful campus , etc college experience is much more appealing to me than what Notre Dame's offers in terms of college experience. But if you fit the Notre Dame type its hard to beat. ND is a polarizing place: some have chosen it over Ivies because they strongly fit the ND culture and they buy into the ND college experience. Others would never even consider the school.

Chapel Hill if you prefer job contacts primarily in the SE; (most matriciulating premeds never make it to med school). In contrast, ND has a national alumni network; if the school is a good social fit, Go Irish.

I had to make the same decision...but one thing that is different from u is that i plan to study business. I chose ND at the end. trust me. it was a rly difficult decision. i dont think it is possible to compare these two schools and come up with a conclusion that which schools is better than the other. they are just so different. but either way, u wont go wrong.
