I’m having a tough time deciding where I want to go to school… I would love to go to UNC Chapel Hill, as it is an excellent school and I feel like there are so many opportunities I would benefit greatly from, which is why I applied in the first place. However, it means leaving everything behind here. I have a job that I mostly enjoy (and that pays the bills- for now), and my whole family is here. UNC Charlotte is my “safety school.” If I went to UNC Charlotte, I could commute, so I could keep my job and stay at home with my family.
I have been accepted into both schools, so it’s just a matter of deciding which one to choose now.
So what should I do? Should I leave everything here and start over at Chapel Hill or go to Charlotte and stay where I’m at?
What would be the cost difference (including income lost)? Chapel Hill will certainly provide more opportunities for your future and there is something to be said about learning to live/going to school on your own - and it’s not like you would be that far anyways. My vote would be for Chapel Hill
I just couldn’t see myself in the same situation and not picking Chapel Hill. It’s a great school, very reputable. I understand that Charlotte seems like a more comfortable option for you, but in the long run I think you’d be happy that you picked Chapel Hill.
Chapel Hill in my opinion. It’s more reputable and I personally think that part of the college experience is being away from the family. I don’t have a problem with commuters, it’s just my opinion. If money is a major issue then Charlotte might be better. If you got accepted to Chapel Hill then you’ll get some really nice scholarships from Charlotte. Chapel Hill is much harder to get into and it’s got a great reputation outside of NC.
