I honestly can’t decide whether I want a big school or a small LAC. Both make me very excited. UNC would cost 37.000 a year, Maryland about 25.000 and Connecticut College about 16.000. My dream school is UNC but I don’t know if I can justify the price. Is UNC worth the extra money for its prestige and because it’s my dream school? I would appreciate some guidance.
It might also be worth mentioning that I’m OOS so I feel very lucky and honored to have made it into UNC.
Congrats to you!! It’s hard to give advice without knowing how big a factor the difference in money is to your family’s situation. What is your parents’ point of view?
UNC and UMD will be more similar to each other than either will be to Connecticut College.
Can you share why you applied to each of these (and maybe others that are not options), what was your experiences visiting them (if you did), what you’re looking for in college, are you thinking about grad school, what you think you’d like to be involved in during college? You may not know the answer to all these, but context does matter in making a big decision like this.
There’s no doubt you can get a great education at any of the three. Congrats again – you’re almost there!
