Son graduated 5 yrs ago. As out of staters will my daughter get any additional consideration because her sibling graduated ? she has great grades and activities.

Maybe a little only as a tipping point. S is a 3rd gen legacy at Carolina, we are in-state and the admissions counselor said at a meeting that they do not give any preference to legacies because it is a public univ. It has only gotten more competitive OOS. That should not discourage her to apply!

Unless they have changed in the last few years they do give preference to OOS state legacies. Both my wife and I have degrees from UNC graduate school. Our son in 2003 went into a separate admissions pool for consideration that looked more like, but still more competitive, in-state. Of course, they could have changed since then. Don’t know if sibling count.
