UNC chapel hill

what is considered a pretty solid gpa out of a top 50 four year college to travel into unc as a sophmore?

transfer**, any ideas?

I applied for transfer Fall 2007 from a CC with 32credits with a 3.88 if that helps at all.

does it matter if your at a cc or four year college?

I'm sure it matters for difficulty of curriculum. If your at a top 4-yr school and have the same high gpa as a CC student they will probably consider the 4-yr student over the cc student.

First, they would take 3.75-3.95 CC GPA over four-year university; in fact, this is the case if student has completed majority of core requirements such as English, Math, Science and foreign language. On the other hand, I would argue "only" top 50 schools (not mediocre schools) have priority in transfer over CC students at Chapel Hill but only if their transfer GPA's are stellar.

what would a 3.5 from GW business be considered?

I applied for transfer for this fall at UNC- Chapel Hill with a 3.88 with 32 gen ed. credits from Anne Arundel Community College (which has been awarded the status of best CC in the country) and I would bet that Admissions would pick a GW student with a lower gpa and the same courses over me.

What do you think?? Were you talking about an in-state CC vs. OOS 4-yr because then I would agree with you.

in-state CC. btw There are rankings for CC's? I do not think universities look at that.

In-state I implied. 3.30- 3.35 (if not slightly less 3.25?) is average applicant pool's GPA. Both of you have great chances.
2.0 GPA students apply to Carolina and are considered in "every" stat. The acceptance rate is low! Many people are just hardcore bb fans but not good academically. haha
Average accepted GPA, on the other hand, I do not know.
3.30-3.35 approximate GPA is valid; however is this logical?
30% applicants under 3.0. 25-30% over 3.5. 35-40% from 3.0 to 3.5.

what about DUKE?

unccharlotte, where did you get those numbers? Just guesses?

The 3.3-3.35 gpa is a calculated average based entirely off of four different folks at Carolina admissions. The approximations in GPA deviation, however, is an absolute guess on my part. The low of the four was 3.2.

I thought the admission's deadline for UNC had already passed...

Nope.. deadline is March 1 for transfers.
