UNC Class of 2020 RD Thread

So IVY day is the day that all the Ivy League schools release their RD results?

yeah, Ivy Day usually falls on March 31st.

@GlennRobinsonIII Yes, it’s been studied that the volume of applications and the competitiveness of the applicant pool increases in the year following a national championship in football or basketball.

They have to release by tomorrow. I can’t believe they’d want to release on Ivy day (31st) and certainly not AFTER Ivy day.

i am in via EA already, but wanted to stop by and tell you guys Good Luck. I have no clues or insight on the matter, but I would expect it to to be today or tomorrow rather than on Ivy day as well.

UNC-CH is considered a public ivy league school.

There are a lot of others colleges who consider themselves "public Ivy League schools " but they don’t release with the rest of the IVIES

@Phil6298 So does the College of William and Mary and others, but they released last week because they are not the Original Ivies. The Original Ivies have an agreement on admissions process and notifications:

Good Luck

So I figure it’ll be released in the evening, instead of in the afternoon?
Also, my condolences to everyone who’s being hit with allergies and college what not simultaneously. :-"

speaking of William and Mary, I got in last week. I know each college is different on who they admit but which is generally thought to be harder to get into. UNC is my top choice and I’m oos.

They have about the same admissions rate but unc gets a lot more applications. Just curious which is harder to get into.

@fanatic97 Congrats. i was accepted to W&M last week as well in addition to UNC EA back in January. Both OOS. I think they are both similarly hard to get into from OOS because of their state mandates on the number of instate students. UNC requires 82% of first years be from NC and W&M only requires 66% be from VA, but I believe the average applicant applying to W&M has better scores and GPA overall - at least according to US News and each schools published profiles.
Personally, I still do not have a top choice and I need to start narrowing it down from a the crapload of schools I got into that i wasn’t expecting to get into. I should have kept it simple. Good Luck again to all hopeful TarHeels.

thanks and congrats to you too and have fun picking from all your schools hahah. That’s a good thing to have options!

Last year:

UNC-CH- 30% total admit rate with 52% instate & 19% out of state (over 30000 apps)
Wm & Mary- 35% total admit rate with 46% instate & 27% out of state (just under 15000 apps)

Good Luck Everyone!!

@KjPineda It’s weird in my situation as I lived in NC for 8 or 9 years before I moved to Hawaii, and I just moved back here last July. I have a vehicle with NC registration and have received IS tuition eligibility, but I’m still a little unsure of my position as my provincial drivers license is still Hawaii and I haven’t registered to vote yet, although we do own a house here, giving us the property claim.

The admissions blog just posted instructions for viewing decisions.

Get ready…here they come. GL

from what i remember in Jan, they posted on the blog the day before the released.

Found it http://admissions.unc.edu/admissions-blog/

Good luck everyone! My son was in your position last year waiting to see if he got in. Very exciting for you all. He did get in! Loves it there. If anyone has any questions once you get in let me know. I have alot of knowledge about the school now.
