UNC Class of 2021 EA

That is from Twitter

Just to add to my rant earlier in this thread. They really should enter the 21st century and get EA decisions available in December so that kids can use EA to limit the number of apps they need to submit. Somehow they are able to make exceptions for numerous athletes that finish high school in December and then enroll in January. How are they even allowed to do this and not make it available to all students being a Public school and all.

@Dolemite – I agree that a quicker decision on EA applicants needs to be made, for exactly the reasons that you state.

Just out of curiosity, I looked at the Georgia Tech website; as a public university that also has an EA application deadline of October 15, like UNC-CH, I wondered what the decision date was for EA applicants to Tech. It turns out to be January 14, which is 2 weeks sooner than UNC-CH but is also past the January 1 deadline for RD applications to Tech; so there is no help to EA applicants there either.

Hi all. OOS applicant here. Super anxious

@nduclaunc: Does your handle reflect your order of preference for colleges? :>)

The die has been cast for you and all the other EA applicants, so just sit back and focus on other things. FWIW, this article has given me a degree of comfort during the college admissions process (and will continue to do so again down the road, I’m sure): http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/15/opinion/sunday/frank-bruni-how-to-survive-the-college-admissions-madness.html?rref=collection%2Fcolumn%2Ffrank-bruni&_r=1

Hahaha great indication, yes it does  however UNC and UCLA are truly a tie because of the cost of living in California. Would be ecstatic with admission to ANY. lol. Gonna go look at that article and give it a read, I appreciate that. And you’re right- control the controllables, it’s no longer in my hands

Is there any closer estimate to when admission decision will be released?

I am out of state from Wisconsin

  • ACT 33
  • 11 AP Classes (3’s and 4’s)
  • 3.9 GPA
  • Founder and President of a Club
  • Good EC’s and volunteering
  • Grandpa and both parents attended UNC
  • I have already been awarded an NROTC scholarship to UNC however this does not ensure admission

Let me know if there’s anything else that will factor in to admission and what you think my chances are. I applied early-action if that makes a difference

^ @AMK467: See my comments on your other thread.

Is Carolina rolling admissions?

Nope, atleast not for EA! Everyone will hear back in Mid-January. @captmag

Does anyone know the date decisions come out?

Hi! I’m an out of state early action student from Mississippi. I thought I’d join in on the conversation as well.

Looks like decisions came January 28 for the last 2 years.

OOS from Ohio! 33 ACT and 4.0 gpa hoping for the best after a rejection and a deferral this week. Can’t believe we still have over a month before decisions come out!

UNC needs to stop this late January release mess because kids need to have a peaceful Christmas without college acceptance being held over their head.

My S is in state. Before going to Gov School this past summer, UNC was all he talked about and off course he worked hard to finish his application on time. Now, he applied to 5 schools and so far he is 3/3 and 2 of the 3 schools are offering a lot of money. As much as I would like for him to stay in state, why should I not let him accept his Vanderbilt acceptance offered to him already. He applied to Vandy early decision knowing his cances were slim to none and to Tulane early action because of Louisiana. “I cant wait on UNC to make up their mind” he said and he is right! Well, I guess a new spot just opened because we are withdrawing his UNC application tomorrow!

I guess every time I have to drive 9 hours to Nashville, I will thank UNC for dragging their feet (logo is a foot for a reason). I want him close but his choice so far are between Tulane and Vanderbilt… Je could do worst so sorry INC, you lose!

If he applied ED to Vanderbilt he has to go unless the finances do not work out- it is a binding agreement. Good luck to your son. I do agree that UNC should try and move decisions up a bit.

UNC is first deadline and last “early decision”. D was so excited about UNC but after hearing from her other 6 schools and being accepted to all, the momentum is gone for UNC. They need to rethink the system over there.

Submitted my app in August and have felt so much angst lately. Went through my common app and saw so many areas that could’ve been improved with the knowledge I have now acquired after going further into the college application process. Oh well. :frowning: I have felt so much doubt in my application ever since, especially being OOS but I am faithful that god will help me end up where I’m meant to be, as he will with the rest of you. Good piece of mind in a time where we still have so long until we get a decision.

That was exactly what I needed to hear today. It’s easy to forget that’s it’s all in His plan. Everything will turn out the way it’s supposed to.
