Anybody know when financial aid packages will come out? I know they don’t give out much aid…
should I create the groupme for accepted students??
Does anyone know if the Pogue scholarship is only for IS students ? Also any info on what they are looking for in the recipients? My DD was accepted OOS but will withdraw her application if she doesn’t get any merit funds…as much as we both love this school OOS tuition is too much for us.
Unc gives very little out of state merit aid I believe
Alright guys I just created a groupme, acceptees JOIN: https://app.■■■■■■■■■■■/join_group/28458307/gfE4l9
SPREAD IT AROUND TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO GOT ACCEPTED!!!
Congrats to everyone accepted! I’ve been deferred IS. My scores were basically average: 29 act, 3.8 gpa UW. I started 9th grade with mostly B’s and I have steadily improved my grades (10th grade: 1 B, 11th grade 1 B, and this semester was all A’s with a heavy course load) but I think what really bit me is that my essays were a bit rushed. Also, my school doesn’t offer APs (not a bad thing but my gpa should be perfect with easy non-AP classes). Anyone else deferred? Do I have a good chance of getting in?
the groupme didn’t work out, let’s stick with the fb group
@purplepuffin - would you please share the fb page please?
Created a GroupMe since the other one got deleted join and spread it around! https://app.■■■■■■■■■■■/join_group/28462626/em9Fzz
Anyone get an excel email yet? Heard they were supposed to come out today.
Is it normal to be denied IS with a 30 ACT, 1380 SAT, 4.5 W gpa, and 8 AP classes? I’m confused as to what I was missing especially knowing some of my friends got in with only one AP class
@aysia0825 Your best hope in finding out is to ask your GC to contact UNC and ask.
The Finaid link in the portal is active but still says processing for that aid year for my D.
@aysaia0825, I mean you GPA and AP is great, but the tests are a tad bit low. But I guess it also depends how you see your EC’s and essays, as those count too.
I checked the box for Kenan-Flagler, was admitted OOS (program “AS Bachelor”), but have never received an Excel email. Anyone else in that boat or know what it means? Thanks.
My daughter in the same situation. OOS Opted for Kenan-Flagler. Got accepted but showing as AS Bachelor and nExcel@carolina email or request for additional information. BTW does anyone know, how hard is it, to get into Kenan afterwards, if direct admin isnt offered
My sister is a junior in Kenan-Flagler now. She was accepted and she started classes there as a second semester sophomore. When she was going through the application process, I remember her saying it was very competitive; I think the average GPA for those accepted was a 3.8. There is an application and interview process and as far as I know many do not get in their first time trying.
Had anybody gotten anything from ExcelCarolina?
“AS” = admitted student??
This page - http://admissions.unc.edu/assured-admission-into-kenan-flagler-business-school/ - states that only “a small group of students” received direct admits and that it’s only available to EA applicants. This page - http://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/admissions/undergraduate-business/assured-admission-program - states that “Students chosen for Excel @ Carolina will be notified of their selection during or shortly after UNC admissions decisions are communicated. Selected students must rank the special opportunities in order of interest. Notification of acceptance into the AAP will arrive no later than mid-April.” This seems to suggest that the Excel notifications come out after admissions, but some on this list appear to have received them before.
