UNC Class of 2021 RD

last year rd applicants got the email the day before decisions were released, and it was also the last tuesday and wednesday of march, so my guess is tomorrow around 4

Guys they are definitely coming out tommorow and they will probably be released between 3-4 o clock. The ea round email was an oddball because they had scheduled a release of the decisions the same say connect carolina was having maintanince. Every other year they have been released the day after an email was sent out.

Is anyone else’s ConnectCarolina down?

Mine is working

@cr_02 Mine is working just fine!

Just out of curiosity, what excel programs were you guys contacted for?

I never got an email about excel programs but I think they are for specific individuals. I thought they sent those out after and if you were accepted in the ea round.

the invitation to join the programs are sent after acceptances. I was sent an email in early march telling me to rank Honors Carolina and Summer abroad Scholarship and to write four sentences about why I am a good fit for those programs.

Just for curiosity, why have some people already received their decisions at this time?

I do not think anyone in RD has received his or her decision yet. Decisions might come out today. I am just wondering if anyone else was emailed about the excel@carolina programs in early March

Posting a question to the group - has anyone ever heard of applicants sending handwritten notes and gift baskets to admissions counselors for their region/state? And if so, is anyone else as appalled as I am that the applicant and his/her parents would engage in such desperate and blatant attempts to curry favor? I am assuming that for public schools accepting such a gift would be contrary to the counselors’ code of conduct but not sure for private schools.

If you can, I would rather donate around 100,000 - 500,000 dollars to UNC. I heard from my friend that Chinese students (international) who got waitlisted donated this amount of money and they got accepted (it would be pretty rare though). I don’t know if this works for all students. If you think your child is really close to being accepted, I would try this method.

That sounds incredibly desperate and I doubt that many people have a few hundred thousand dollars lying around to donate. Save your money, you can always transfer.

Got it, and I just must be super naive - am pretty plugged in to “mom talk” in local circles and had never heard of anyone sending gift baskets to admissions - but maybe it is happening all over and nobody is 'fessing up to it! Take care and good luck in making your decisions! My D is still waiting to hear from UNC and UC Berkeley before making final decision… can’t wait for all of this to be OVER. :frowning:

Agreed. Luckily UNC is my last school. I’m just ready to make a decision!

Search #unc21 on instagram. There are quite a few people received their decisions last week

@ATX_Mom I worked in admissions at WashU for 12 years. This happened all the time. We were not allowed to accept gifts or baskets from applicant families. We would have our interns bring them down to the local homeless shelter and have a form note sent to them stating that we were not allowed to accept gifts. They never got to the intended recipient. If it was wine, usually we just gave it to the volunteer student tour guides

@nightvisions for EA, decisions came out the day after the email at 4 pm EST (or 3 CST). So I’d expect a decision tomorrow at 4 (or 3 in your case)

@Ian0517 We received emails yesterday. So wouldn’t the decisions come out today??

@12345667 those are people posting on Instagram from Admitted Students day that was last week (these are people admitted during EA)
