UNC Class of 2022 EA Discussion Thread

Thank you so much! Still super nervous just ready for them to release decisions

@jrsnoles99 They had maintenance 8:00am-1:00pm today, so ConnectCarolina was down.

@College0taku Ardrey Kell High School. I’ve been told by the Charlotte Observer that Ardrey Kell has now surpassed the previous school in population and is now #1 with almost 4,000 students.

Ardrey Kell is the 4th largest in NC with just over 2700 students and only the 9th most competitive

Hey everyone! Can you guys chance me please! I applied EA

@emmab15 I remember AK’s DECA section at districts this year. It was HUGE

@jacobusvk - Ardrey Kell has just under 3300 students this year.

@Coo521 1220 is a bit low, but in-state Black/Hispanic male is an ideal UNC candidate. Male aspect of that especially helps you out as female/male ratio works in your favor. I think you should be an acceptance. If your essays and LOR’s work out you’re in for sure.

@hscot7469 you will most likely get in!!! Also UNC has a 55% in state acceptance rate so it’s not too dificult

@jacobusvk Alright, my numbers were off but look here:

Yeah! I was there! @College0taku

Thank you!! I’m feeling much more hopeful now

@emmab15 You are a very safe bet to get in, imo.

@qdude2022 Very safe bet.

How come unc is due before every other school but comes out last??

Hi! I am super nervous about decisions coming out soon and was wondering if someone could chance me. Please be honest, I’m an out-of-state student with slightly above average grades so I already know that my chances are slim.

Race/Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Residency: Out-of-State (CT)
Rank: My school doesn’t rank but I would guess top 10%.
GPA: My HS does GPAs out of 100, so it’s really hard to compare me to others. W: 94.54 UW: 92.30
SAT: 1440 (R: 670/M: 770)
ACT: 33
SAT Subject: Math 2 (790)
Essays: Maybe 7 to 8/10, I’m not the best writer.
Letters of Rec: AP Physics teacher & math teacher who I had for Algebra II freshman year and for AP Calc
APs: Junior - Physics 1 (4), Computer Science (4), Calculus AB (5)
Senior - Government & Politics, Statistics, Environmental Science
Other classes: 4 years of honors Latin, first 3 years regular English and history, honors math first 2 years, honors English this year, doubled up on math this year
Extracurriculars: 7 years of competitive volleyball (I play year round both on my varsity team and a club team), president of Latin Club, high school orchestra for all 4 years, good amount of volunteering with my church, worked for a month as a counselor this past summer at sleepaway camp for girls
Awards: National Honor Society, AP Scholar

Not sure if this matters, but I also applied for direct admission to Kenan-Flagler and intend to major in Business Administration with a minor in math.

@carolinee8734 Good academic stats and sports should help, but the fact that you don’t feel very strong about your essays isn’t a very good sign here. Also, your EC’s are fine but not hooks or anything that stands out. Also wouldn’t count on Assured Business admission due to your relative lack of business-oriented clubs/awards or experience. OOS white female doesn’t entirely work in your favor either. Consider UNC a big reach just due to its competitiveness, but again, you never know what might happen. Good luck!

Hi! could you guys chance me? I’m an in-state student and very nervous about decisions coming out soon!! I know my scores are not the best, I’ve worked very hard to excel in everything else. Bad time management and test anxiety. I’ve retaken each test three times if that tells you anything. Please be honest!!(:

@Sydney164 ACT is really going to hold you back, but being in-state is a huuuge advantage for you. Your EC’s are stellar and grades as well. If your Essays stand out, you have a really good shot.

Is anyone elses Connect Carolina not working?
