I got into Honors Carolina a little while back and just received an email from Honors Carolina starting with “Dear Jason, Congrats on your admission to UNC and Honors Carolina.” And that’s great and all… but I’m a girl, and my name definitely isn’t Jason… pretty confused right now
When I click on “View Financial Aid”, it says “No self-service access for this aid year”. What does that mean?
@anxiousco2022 My D got an Honors letter addressed to “Jason” as well.
It probably means that they have not released the aid package for the aid year (2018-2019).
Any OOS Colonel Robinson recipients?
My daughter’s said Jason too! And then less than an hour later they re-sent with right name. Whew!!

For all of those worried about not getting merit aid, you probably should be concerned–I just got my need-based package, and I received $400 in federal loans. That’s it. They expect my family to pay over 30% of our household income (family of 4). UNC is not generous with need-based aid for middle-class families, contrary to what some have been saying on this thread.
My son Received the financial aid package tonight. It included a large grant that brings tuition on par with instate at UVA. Also loans, and work study. My son is excited as this gives him a choice,

If you check out last year’s threads, UNC had similar email issues. Also, in an effort to get offers out ASAP there is usually significant lag time in getting the written offer. My son did get email about registration for Admitted Students Days last week.
