UNC Class of 2022 RD Discussion Thread

i didnt see a discussion thread made for RD yet, so i decided to make one

deadline’s in 2 days but i submitted my app along with all my other college apps before jan 1, what about everyone else?
what other schools have you guys applied to? any scholarships you guys are looking at for unc?

I applied RD a few weeks back. Has anyone submitted their mid-year grades yet? I know that they are required and UNC says that there is a spot in the To Do tab. However, my To Do tab says “no to do’s”. Is this something I should email them about or is this how everyone is?

@RonaldDream isn’t your counselor supposed to take care of your mid-year reports?

@colorfulhuman not according to this http://admissions.unc.edu/midyear-grade-reporting-instructions/

Is the mid-year reporting of grades only for regular decision? My daughter applied early action and it says “No To Do’s” on her Connect Carolina page. I can’t find anywhere to update it like it that link talks about.

@UTSquared Mid-year grades are required for early action and regular decision applicants. With UNC, you self-report your grades on the portal, and those grades are confirmed when you send in your final transcript.

There should be a place on the portal for the reporting to be done. I believe last year it was under the To-Do list, so it’s a bit odd that it seems that it hasn’t shown up for some people.

My advice would be to call admissions and check.

@adp106 I did email with UNC yesterday and they said they don’t need mid-year grades for Early Action applicants. They’ll ask for them if you are deferred to RD. Thanks

My D is a current OOS student. She was told to self report her mid year grades after she was accepted. Prior to acceptance it was not shown on her “to do” list.

Does anyone know how to send in updates? Also, did anyone get access to their portals yet?

Got access to the portal…but it is one of the least user friendly of all the ones I have seen. NO idea how to submit mid-year grades.

@colorfulhuman Since I had applied EA, they did give me access to their admissions portal, but trust me you don’t want to be eagerly waiting for it. It looks like it is straight from the 90s internet era. They have not yet given me the option to upload Mid-Year grades yet as @CValle pointed out.

They will ask you to report mid year grades once you are accepted.

FINALLY got my portal. Apparently, I typed in the wrong social in my common app, thats why they were having trouble processing. But yeah, the portal is really confusing, its not really helpful 0.0

Hello everyone. This is my first time on CC. I applied RD for UNC and I’ve fallen in love since then. I was wondering if they give full financial aid with no loans. I have an EFC Of 0 and I want to see what the financial aid is like. I got a bad grade in AP CAlc last Semester ( C) do you think that could stop me from being accepted? Also I’m applying from out of state.

@Tifejjewel UNC OOS RD is a beast. It really depends on how your other grades are to see if you end up getting accepted, as well as your supplemental materials. Also, knowing someone who applied EA who’s EFC was also 0, you will inevitably have to take out loans.

I though UNC did financial aid with no loans

The no loans statement is for Carolina covenant people. It states that they meet full financial need with a combination of grants and loans for others. I believe the breakdown is generally 2/3 grant and 1/3 loans.

I was asked for my mid year grades and self reported it too from my portal. I read on post #12 that they ask for it only when you are accepted? But on nowhere it was written about my decisions. I’m confused. Help me out here

@Nealthakker Were you accepted EA. If so, mid-year grades are NOT required, only final. If you are an RD applicant, midyear grades ARE required to be posted on your portal.

I applied RD! Got it, thank you!
