Son waitlisted. OOS 1570 SAT, 35 ACT, many APs with 5s, very good leadership and ECs. Frankly, I’m astonished. I’ve seen the posts from others in relatively the same boat, so I know he’s not alone. Still, astonished.
Did you have to fill anything out for honors? I’m out of state and just got accepted. If I have great stats am I pretty much guaranteed?
I got in OOS with a 1390 SAT! I wanted to share because there is a lot of talk on here about how all OOS students who apply have to have over a 1500 to be a competitive applicant. It always depends:)
@BigRoundDad I was also waitlisted OOS, your son’s stats are even more impressive than mine lol. I honestly am not even sure who was accepted lol. 
Not the end of the world though, good luck to your son and I am sure he will get in to some incredible universities!

also great stats don’t always guarantee. some had great scores, and others had alright scores (but still competitive). I got a 29 and made it in

@canoeriver123 Definitely not guaranteed. Plenty with awesome stats don’t get honors. They basically take a holistic approach similar to admissions in how they form their classes.

I really hope this is a UNC/OOS/18 percent cap problem and not a sign of a general trend in college admissions. I seriously cannot believe people with 1550, 1570’s, straight A’s etc are being outright rejected.
