Damn, I ain’t getting recruited but I’m still getting some help from the coach… I’m OOS but i have average in state grades. Praying for the coach to pull through.
@Tuxrd2 @johnander123 - We are in Mecklenburg.
No, he did not do anything after submitting the application. His final GPA (after Senior year) was 3.87/4.9, which brought his class rank comfortably in the top tenth of his class. He was also deferred and waitlisted at UVA, and waitlisted at William & Mary (accepted at VA Tech, BU, and GWU, along with NC State)- he took himself off the WL for those, because they were OOS anyways. As far as we could tell, getting off the Waitlist is completely random, because my son’s friend with slightly better stats did not make it off the WL, or maybe my son got in because his twin had already been accepted in January? I cannot say- but the one thing we knew going in, was that calling, or any other continued contact would be pointless. The school sends the mid-year report to every college you apply to. Unless you miss something really significant in the application, you’re not adding to it in any way.
In the end, he chose to go to NC State- the way he saw it, UNC saw something in his profile that had them questioning if he would succeed there, TWICE. State saw him doing well. At the end of the day, that matters- he’s thriving at State, in the Honors program, with an A+ GPA, accepted into both his Majors (Nutrition Science and Bio Sci(IPN) ), after one semester!
My sincere advice, Everything you could have done, is done. If you get in, great! If you don’t, do your very best, wherever you go.
@Essel My S18 also at NCSU. He knew UNC was a reach and didn’t expect to get in. He was top 15% so that hurt him. He loves NCSU! My D20 will be applying to both schools.
@essel I’m OSS, but do you mind me asking what your twins’ scores were. Their GPAs and Class Rank were strong. Thanks.
I heard from a friend that decisions were supposed to come out yesterday, which obviously didn’t happen. I know that the UNC website says near the end of January, but does anyone have an actual approximate date?
From my review of UNC Admissions Twitter account, here are the dates from the last few years.
Class of 2022 - 1/26/18
Class of 2021 - 1/27/17
Class of 2020 - 1/28/16
Class of 2019 - 1/30/15
So generally the last Friday in January, which would be next Friday 1/25/19
@Brigade23 I heard that too from a college coach…

@Jordynklongland ACT seems a little low for OOS, but no one on this board is an AO for UNC Chapel Hill. Look at the numbers on UNC’s website for OOS, and you can chance yourself as well as anyone here.

@sliu412 That is true, how do you think that will impact the EA acceptance rate?
@sarajayhawk Very good chance IMO. I don’t know how many applicants they get who are from Kansas, and also URM, 1st Gen, and First in their class. I hope you hear good news soon! With all that said, keep in mind I don’t work in Admissions.

So consensus is a week from tomorrow. Anyone know what time usually released?
Last year they came out around 3:30. Usually, the decisions come out later in the afternoon somewhere around 4pm.
Thank you!
I’m so nervous! I’ve been looking at the admission statistics and I think I meet a lot of them but still, its hit or miss with UNC. Its been my dream school ever since I was a child and to have that life long dream either continue or come to an end next week is really freaking me out? Is this just me?
Anyone know what day decisions come out? It says the 31st but I know of other schools whose decisions come out before when they say.
