UNC Deferral

I got deferred from UNC Chapel Hill. I was wondering what are the chances that I’ll get in regular decision. I also want to send in a letter about my continued interest, but I don’t know who to send it to and how. Any guidance is very appreciated!

Hard to tell chances without any stats.

34 ACT, about 96 numerical avg. And my extra-curricular activities are plentiful and worthy as well. If that helps!

Are you OOS? If not, I’m surprised you got deferred, if yes it’s reeeally competitive and hard to say.

UNC-CH is top state school that’s very, very picky on OOS. In fact, they set limit on 17.1% OOS population, so the competition is fierce

Does anyone who got deferred got to submit their Mid Year grades? Or do you know by when we have to do that?

I think UNC admit about 300-350 deferred students, which is significantly lower than the RD… Please correct me if its wrong, I don’t want to misguide anyone

So from the other deferral thread, for 2014 they deferred 2888, about 1500 were OOS.

So if out if 2888 they only take 300…hard to say, but sound like roughly RD odds?

@northview98 with those stats, I’m honestly surprised you got deferred even though you’re OOS. I must’ve seriously underestimated the selectivity of OOS admissions.

Thank you so much for your replies! Yes, I am from Georgia, so OOS. @NotDrSPhan I was surprised as well! I wasn’t super confident, but I was happy that I at least didn’t get denied  @zhi128 I looked on the admissions website and it said they accepted 346 deferred students last year. So you were right! @dudefromnowhere I asked my counselor and she said she will automatically send it or you can self-report your grades. Go ahead and ask your counselor about what action to take! Anyone know who to send in the letter of interest to?
