Good, I will go back to my mental picture (though with a fresh shave)!

As people have said, the advantages of UNC are better weather and smaller student body.

On the other hand, Michigan probably has more national and international prestige. Not considering weather, Ann Arbor is probably a cooler town than Chapel Hill, and Detroit gets better events than Raleigh, the two bigger cities that are at a comparable distance from each campus. Personally, I'd much rather have good football than good basketball (though both schools have just made exciting coaching hires in their secondary sport)

So, I think my decision would be based on: 1) What program I was considering (for say business, I'd go to Michigan, for journalism, UNC) 2) Money, at sticker price, I'd probably go to UNC assuming the program I'm interested in is fairly equal at both schools 3) Whether I give more weight to location or weather. 4) Whether I like Basketball or Football more

You're not going to go wrong with either choice though. I go to UNC and everyone here loves it, and I know several people at Michigan who say the same thing.

that was quite an excellent post ^^^

For me someone threw me a YAY UNC!! party and I got two hats and thus Mich is drifting further and further from the #1 spot in my mind.

We live 45 min away from Ann Arbor (U of M) And I encouraged my D to visit UofM since it's a great school and would be so close by. She did not like it at all when we went on our tour. She didn't feel the people were very welcomimg. UNC on the other hand she felt totally at home from the moment she walked on campus.

Also today APRIL 15Th it is SNOWING outside and we life 45 miles South of Michigan!!! Go HEELS!!

I got accepted to UNC and will probably be going in the fall. I will be visiting next weekend 4/27-4/30...if anyone else is visiting that time or wants to talk about the school in general please im me: dvd2273.... I am so excited to go.....

dvd- I tried to pm you but you seem to have that disabled?

mistinax: I was saying that based on the 2008 graduate school rankings:

<a href="http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/mba/brief/mbarank_brief.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/mba/brief/mbarank_brief.php</a></p>

and the 2007 undergraduate rankings show michigan at #5 and Kenan-Flagler at #15:

celladoor---- i dont know how it works on this site...dvd2273 is my aim name, contact me there...

ns347--oh, i was referring to us news' undergrad rankings

Has your daughter set up her onyen login? We were sent a letter to set this up, so we could view our financial aid. To set up your onyen, go to the UNC Homepage - click on Login My UNC. After you have set your onyen up log in, go to student then financial aid and see if it is displayed. Hope this helps, if you do not find anything then just give them a call or email the financial aid office. Also, we were at Carolina this past weekend and met a girl from Michigan. She had to pick between Carolina and U. of Michigan - she picked Carolina - more financial aid and she said the weather was a lot better at Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill is a beautiful place. The campus is beautiful anytime of the year, but it is really pretty this time of year.

alcook-- Yes, she has her My UNC all set up, and busy checking it 24 hrs/day. She got her computer grant in the mail... so that was good news. We're now down to less than 2 wks to make decision!
