Sorry I posted this on a few different threads, forgot to clear up every detail, nothing is certain but since I only have a month to decide it’s great to weigh everything.

Oh wait, you haven’t won the Robertson then. Since that’s the case, you should wait. Getting it is hard, and the final step is no joke. I was in the running for it at UNC and very nearly got it but didn’t in the end.

If I HAD gotten it though, I would have went to UNC over Duke, Georgetown, Cornell, Hopkins, and all the other schools I got into. Heck, even without a scholarship UNC should be appealing to you.

Again, good luck with getting the Robertson.

It is significantly more difficult to get a full ride to UNC, let alone the Morehead or Robertson, than it is to get accepted to Brown.

Selectivity aside, take the Robertson if you get it. No college in the country can compare to the experience of a Morehead or Robertson scholar (and they know it).

You can’t say that the students at UNC are not as intellectual as those at Brown. And UNC doesn’t have that “Southern” atmosphere at all. Even though it’s easier for in-state students to get into UNC, the people that end up attending are very smart and hard-working students. There’s so much to do on campus; world-class performers and musicians go to Memorial Hall and students get $10 tickets to hear/see them. Anywhere else, the tickets will be $85 and up. Franklin Street is always bustling with life. Brown/Providence really doesn’t have that.

And since you have a full scholarship, you should seriously consider going to UNC.

Just some food for thought:

When I was debating between the Morehead and Harvard/Yale/Princeton, I was worried about the same things you were, and I came to UNC almost exclusively for the scholarship. If I had to do it all over, I would come here over Harvard/Yale/Princeton again, but I would come for the school, not the scholarship. Don’t underestimate how great a place this is and how much people love it.

Your comments echo exactly what my son felt once he got there. Says now he couldn’t even imagine himself at those other places (sans H since he didn’t apply there )
