UNC Shooting Victim

omg.......

L., it said the shootout was near intersection of Shepherd and Proctor.

thanks mkm

in durham?

yes in durham

sorry, but does anyone know roughly where that would be..trying to google it

They said the swat team threw in "flash granades," which brought down the door, and didn't find him, so I'm not sure the swat team is still there. The police are. He's apparently out there now, "at large" and "armed and dangerous."

I did the google streetview thing on Shepherd and Proctor - I have definitely driven by that intersection; here's the map link
Meantime - News 14 has pictures of the suspects.

can you give me an idea of what area of the city that would be in dukeegr? although i guess if he got away maybe its moot at this point

They said this was at the home of grandmother of Lovette where she runs a day care. There is also a Montesorri (sp?) school across the street. Swat team has left, police still there and road blocked off. (according to WRAL)

wow, using the kids for cover sounds like? they have got to get this guy and fast

LF - it's almost center of Durham, a little (0.5 to 1 mile) due South of Duke's East campus.

Atwater, the person in custody has a long criminal record and was in fact awaiting a hearing on another charge from March 3rd in Raleigh......where they let him out on bail......what is wrong with our system?

thank you DE and i just saw your map link too, thanks

you all have no idea how helpful you are. i mean it. no idea. thank you

Yes, eadad, looks like the March 3 date was for breaking and entering. I'm sure that wasn't his first offense or arrest. I cannot believe they let this guy go.

I just received a copy of the remarks that Eve's dad had read for him at the memorial service on Sunday and have posted them in another post on the UNC thread.

Please read them...I have no way of understanding where he found the strength and could be so eloquent.......

Here's a link to eadad's post with Mr. Carson's words.

Thanks, eadad, a very impressive family indeed.

Second suspect arrested this morning.
