I want to get the UNC student health insurance (the student blue one) but the one on the website is outdated (2009).

Unless you sign the health insurance waiver the UNC system will charge you for the insurance on your tuition.

EDIT: Here is the link to the explanation. Also, if your parents have health insurance, you are likely eligible to stay on their plan, and it would probably be cheaper than the hard waiver plan. Before you decide whether or not to keep the UNC plan, make sure to compare costs, and talk about it with your parents.

http://studenthealth.unc.edu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=899&Itemid=1

Also just to make it clear again you are automatically enrolled in the plan until you sign the waiver online, and provide proof of coverage (really simple process, it is all done electronically.)

Thank you Tony. My parents’ health insurance, and mine, is not valid outside my country. UNC’s health insurance is the most convenient option. Any idea when I’ll be billed for this?

It should appear in the charges section of your my.unc either now, or sometime soon. Just pay your bill to the university and you will be good to go (I can’t tell you if it is already there, because I signed the waiver a while back.)

Is it labeled “Student Health Insurance Fee” under the charges?
