@SatanFlower69 well I didn’t know, I was just asking anyone who got rejected to see if they are going to reapply
Elon University, it’s a good school, just not for my major (English).
@CM7850 understandable. None of the UC schools offer a Public Policy major. Good luck!
@SatanFlower69 Thank you! I’m sure things will work out for all of us no matter where we end up.
I was accepted into the College of Arts and Sciences as a Chemistry BS major. I am a freshman now so I will enter as a sophomore.
From: NC State
Current major at state: chemical engineering
GPA: 4.0
Research on campus, internship, and on my dorm student council.
SAT 1530, ACT 34
Rank 1 in high school.
To everyone who got accepted, congrats! To everyone who didn’t, I know it is very disappointing. I wish you the best of luck, wherever your path takes you!
Hey everyone I got accepted in state into the information science major. My college GPA was a 3.71 and high school was a 2.9 UW and a 3.7 weighted. I didn’t turn in SAT scores but I want to tell you guys to get accepted into UNC you need to show knowledge of your major and have experiences. The college of arts and science is the “easiest” majors to transfer into but the professional schools are the hardest. For any student that got accepted into a professional school you need to give yourself more credit. This school is very hard to transfer into especially in professional schools because you are competing with UNC students already there. I also think I got accepted because I show my git hub account, html codes, website about identity theft and wrote a strong essay.
Does anyone know when we will be able to apply for housing? Or enroll for classes? I know the ONYEN will be accessible tomorrow, which is good, but I don’t know the next steps.
@CM7850 I am in the exact same situation. Rising junior at NC state, applied to UNC this year. I was going to apply last year but backed out too. I wish I did because my GPA was a whole 7 decimal points higher. I got rejected. Upsetting because I hate NC State and I guess I am stuck here for the next 2 years.
I feel your pain, mine was five decimals higher. It’s not horrible (still above 3.0) but I knew my chances were slim for UNC. Hindsight is 20/20 though, I learned that the hard way.
Luckily, it’s not over yet for me, I’m not losing hope. I still have two schools left.
@CM7850 i feel your pain. Also applied from Elon University.
I applied as a junior transfer directly into business school and got rejected. Stats if you want to know:
- Instate from Elon University - College GPA: 3.75
- Did not submit test scores
- Majors: Business Analytics and Finance
- Minor: Supply Chain Management
- I had a lot of credits completed. Currently have 84 completed
- Extracurriculars: Vice President Finance of Delta Sigma Pi (biz frat), President of Elon Microfinance Initiative, first chair flutist Phoenix Winds, sorority, intern at center for organizational analytics, management honor society, financial management association, held 2 summer jobs
- Studied abroad twice
- Dean’s List
- Other schools accepted: University of Richmond
- Other schools applied: William & Mary and Wake Forest
I think I know what my problem was. I have completed too many credits. Carolina wants you to start at Carolina and end in Carolina. Also the business school is rising in the ranks and is pretty cut throat. Being in state made no difference. I think the class of 2022 already chose the people admitted to the B school last fall so I believe us junior B school transfers were competing for 20-50 spots. It was nice hearing from you all and congrats to those that got in!
I have a question. As a junior starting their semester, will it be possible for me to reapply to UNC again for a different major during my junior year?
I’m in a complicated situation. I took a semester off for some reasons that I have been told and so this year of 2020 I will be a junior and Spring of 2021, I’ll be a senior
Posting this for Next Years applicants

Essays are extremely important!
Good luck to those trying next year!
how do you know which department you were accepted into?
@statetransfer UNC
Unfortunately, UNC does not take Spring Transfers or senior transfers. you could try and transfer next fall but I would not recommend that since they will only take 60 credits max so you would have to redo you junior credits over again
I only have information about registering for classes.
This is what my CSTEP Cooridnator said:
As soon as you receive the email that decisions are available, accept your admissions offer and pay or defer your $250 enrollment deposit on your MyCarolina page.
*Note that if you choose to defer your enrollment fee to Financial Aid, it will take 48 – 72 hours before you can register for classes.
*If you choose to “pay by check/money order” or “pay by debit/credit,” you will not be able to register until your payment is credited (can take up to 10 days).
Yo I’m transferring from Elon too
For future applicants
Decision: Accepted
In-State applicant
Year (Applied For): Sophmore
Major: Computer Science
Credits: 15 completed at institution (31 total) + 16 on the way
Current College: UNC Charlotte
College GPA: 4.0
HS GPA: (uw) ~3.6 (w) ~4.2
SAT: 1450
EC’s: Oracle Intern paid internship. Research Internship at a university. Various places I volunteered at for a couple of years with many PVSA Awards. I took all the math and science courses that were available at my high school. University Honors Program.
Essays: I’m not a great essay writer, I followed the tips I found on various websites by just searching the essay prompts. I feel like they were some of my better essays.
Recommendations: All of my first-year classes were large lecture classes, so I got a recommendation from one of my HS teachers and another from my internship. I think they were both pretty strong.
Good Luck!

@bdg2913 Did you get in?
Congrats to everyone who got in! I transferred in 2018 and have been at Carolina for 2 years now. I’d be glad to help answer any questions you may have about life as a Carolina transfer.
