UNC - Transfer Waitlist 2020

Hi, I am an in-state student who was waitlisted to UNC for Fall 2020.
I already accepted to NC State but this is my dream school and cannot give up.
Is anyone waiting for the decision?
Has anyone heard from UNC yet?

My GPA was 3.54 when I applied to UNC.
I got all As this semester and my GPA boosted to 3.74.
I am not sure how likely I get into UNC.

Hopefully, this Pandemic helps me to get into UNC since many international students are going back to their countries to take a year off.

So far I haven’t heard that anyone’s been admitted from the transfer waitlist yet. Regular decision admissions just wrapped up so people will probably start getting pulled off the waitlist in a few weeks or so. I’m an incoming sophomore with a 4.0 GPA but I’m out-of-state so I’m not sure what my chances are. Hopefully we’ll get good news soon!

I haven’t sent them my final transcript yet because it is not wrapped up yet. Hope we will hear a good news from them soon!

I have been praying everyday to be taken off the waitlist… best of luck to everyone!

Same here?
Hope they received my transcript so that they can reconsider me earlier!

Has anyone gotten admitted off the waitlist since or after May 15th?

Why the specific date?

Because May 15th was the enrollment deposit due date for admitted transfer students so UNC is going to send out admissions in waves as deposits do or dont come in

Anyone yet?
They for sure didn’t match my final transcript to my application yet.

Nope, I’m still refreshing my MyCarolina portal. I sent out my transcripts on May 13th. I called UNC last Friday and they said they still haven’t received anything yet. Still praying…

Good luck for us!!

not sure about the affect from cover, but historically, its almost impossible to get off the waitlist at UNC

@fancypants2019 Statistically the people who get off the waitlist can’t really be determined, but don’t get your hopes up! Last year 519 were on the waitlist and 102 were accepted. It was a pretty good year, however I was waitlisted last year and didn’t make it. I was a sophomore transfer which affects odds… The higher your class ranking is the higher the odds of acceptance. This is the data I was referring to https://admissions.unc.edu/questions-about-the-transfer-waiting-list/
I have now applied as a junior transfer and was accepted in April. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me! I have been in your shoes so I know the feeling

Bc this thread is small is it possible some ppl have been accepted already and we just haven’t heard? I know they are doing it in waves and I’m hoping they haven’t made any decisions yet as no news isn’t the best news. But considering they released the majority of decisions last year on May 20th does anyone have any ideas if they have contacted anyone for sure or not? I’m thinking of calling and asking If they started informing ppl yet but not sure if they will tell me.

I called them this morning and they said nobody has been accepted off the waitlist yet

Awesome!! Thank you!! @smallairplane

Getting off from waitlist as a freshman is almost impossible according to stats. However, for transfer student, it is not bad to give a shot. This is my last hope so I just pray every night for the good news…

I’m assuming no one has gotten off the waitlist yet, but does anyone have any insight? Like did anyone call and get any sort of explanation on the delay? I’m sooo impatient this is very hard ?

I sent them an email yesterday and they just told me they received my final transcript and don’t need anymore documents. And they said I will be notified via email when I am off the waitlist. I’m not sure if they are going to notify me if I get denied. ?

I had two different dreams last night: first, I got denied, second, I got accepted…? That much I am concerning about the acceptance…
