EDIT: OUT OF STATE FOR BOTH (PA)

SAT: 2180 (660 CR, 780 M, 740 W)
SAT II: 780 (Math 2), 760 (US History)
GPA: 3.91 UW
4 AP's (4 more senior year)
EC's: eh.

I just want a general chancing haha, I really wanna go to UCLA, but the OOS is getting ridiculous and UNC has always been my number 2. Which one would I have a better shot at getting into?

Both of them will be difficult, but UNC-Chapel Hill is significantly harder for OOS students. Because North Carolina subsidizes the educational cost there heavily, OOS students are capped at approximately 18% of the general student body, meaning the acceptance rate of OOS students is rather lower compared to IS ones.

Without ECs, I would say that UCLA would be a low reach or high match, depending. You have a pretty good UW and a decent number of APs; however, UCLA does consider ECs, especially for a more competitive pool. Maybe a 50/50 chance (your SATs are good though).

UNC is pretty competitive, it would probably be a mid reach.

Chance me back?

i say that UCLA is a high match, and a match with great essays.

I live right near UNC and it is SOOOOOOO easy to get into in-state, but out of state it’s REALLY difficult. you’ll have a better chance at UCLA and it’s a higher ranked school. also apply to UC-Berkeley UVA and Michigan, you’ll at least get into one of those no question.

GOOD LUCK!

chance back

UCLA is a mid-match. (Why I say that? Because the UC’s are looking at trying to admit more out-of-state applicants.

Why don’t you list your EC’s here?

^^ haha becuase my EC’s are really nothing special at all. A couple of clubs here and there, track for all 4 years (but I’ve never been good). Anymore thoughts guys? Hahah so what I’m getting right now, is that I should be able to get into UCLA, but UNC is gonna be pretty high reach for me?

If you improve your SAT to maybe 2250, and you get a weighted of at least 4.3 (or rather, a class rank of top 10% and take as many APs as you can and are offered), it would probably a match. It’s a low to mid reach for you currently, however.
