UNC vs Syracuse

I'm looking at international relations/public affairs/history/polysci as a major and have been admitted to UNC. I'm banking on getting into Syracuse too, although nothing is certain.

Since I'm in-state, UNC's total cost will be about $11,000/year. Syracuse will probably be around $35,000/year depending on how much money I can get from them. I have a sister who is a current junior at Syracuse and she is costing us $40,000 a year, so basically if I go to Syracuse my parents will have to shell out ~$75,000 a year where as if I go to UNC it will be more like $51,000 (at least for the first year until my sister graduates). My parents have told me to go wherever, but I'm not going to lie and say that cost isn't a factor.

Also, I have a sis at Syracuse, but I have lots of friends from my school going to UNC and NC State so that is a tough decision too.

So basically what I'm asking is

1.) Which school is better for the areas that I want to study?

and

2.) Which school would you choose if you were in similar circumstances?

Thanks in advance

not even close, go to UNC...syracuse is way way overrated, here in NY we know this

I went to SU for a year, and it is not worth the $50K tag. It's more expensive and less prestigious than UNC

haha, you transferred from SU to Cornell, my physics teacher that I had for 2 years did that back in the late '70s, he said SU was basically a joke
