UNC vs. UVa for investment banking

I recently got accepted into both of these schools. In my eyes they look very equal as far academics go and landing a job, but i would have to give the slight advantage to UVa. The problem is I live in North Carolina so id get in state for UNC. Money isnt much of an issue but like anybody it be nice to save. Where do you think is a better value?

You asked for best value, which is a great thing to ask. And you got into UVA out of state, so obviously you’re capable of hard work, so go for UNC. It won’t hold you back as much as others claim here. I believe UNC has some student run fund, something like the Kenan-Flagler Private Equity Fund, either way, network with those guys and try to get into it. You’ll do fine, you just have to have some confidence knowing that you are coming from a slightly less prestigious school than the other targets.

janderson23 - I’m starting school next year with you in hopes of getting into investment banking; maybe we should get to know each other some how. To be honest, UVA would be the best choice (although it’s too late to change decisions now), but if you are smart enough to get into UVA as an out of state student, you are clearly smart enough to break into Wall St. from UNC.

I’m going to UNC by the way.

UVA puts more kids on the street but UNC also places a fair amount. Work hard and you’ll be fine.
