UNC vs Wake Forest

I will be majoring in Chemistry focusing on Biochem. I'm planning on being premed.

With the cost being about the same which is better?

UNC! Better people better school

UNC. Better chemistry department.

Unless you like the small LAC-like feel of Wake Forest and the feeling of emptiness that goes along with living in Winston-Salem.

…ok for real now:

My friend and I both go to UNC and grew up in Winston-Salem. He has taken chemistry classes at both Wake and UNC, I have only taken chemistry classes at UNC. My personal experience with my chemistry classes at UNC is that of the 5 classes I’ve taken so far, 4 have been very good and 1 has been mediocre. My friend’s experience has been that the chemistry classes at UNC were mixed and the chemistry classes at Wake were very good. That said, there’s definitely more research opportunities in chemistry at UNC. Everybody I know that has come to UNC from Winston-Salem says that Chapel Hill>>>>>>Winston-Salem for people our age. So if you choose Wake Forest, you’ll still have to deal with the feeling of emptiness that goes along with living in Winston-Salem and with being forced to watch Jeff Bzdelik flounder around attempting to coach ACC basketball.

why do you say there are more research opportunities at unc than wake? Just wondering

Because UNC’s chemistry department and medical center are larger than Wake Forest’s. Also, UNC gets more funding for research than Wake Forest.
