I have no idea what I want. I have dreamed of going to UNC, but not I am accepted in Washu( w/ a full ride) and Upenn and im so confused. I have yet to hear financial aid at the other two schools, but odds are they will all give me a lot of money due to my income. I am visiting Washu in a weeks time, and hoping upenn can pay my way for me to visit them.

Idk if i want to work extremely hard at a school, or if i want a decent school where I can have fun(UNC). This is truly going to be the hardest decision of my life.

I want to do pre-med, and major in philosophy,or psychology, or something of the sort if that helps.

haha well, i see that u posted this like last year…
but i thought i should send a friendly reply anyways,
i would actually loovveee to be in ur position,
cause i applied to both upenn and unc, but i only got accepted to unc.
tbh, im transferring to upenn after my sophomore year…
they do have higher world class education than a state uni… just sayin.,

Unless you are speaking of Wharton exclusively, this is a broad generalization and in no way reflects the actual quality of education you can receive at either institution.

FACT: When my son was taking an advanced calculus class at UNC (where he was placed after scoring a 5 on AP BC calculus) his class had approximately 55 students and was taught by a Full Professor. His best friend from HS who was at Penn taking the SAME class was in a class of 300 plus taught by a grad student TA.

Be careful with assumptions based on reputations alone, they are not always accurate…and UNC is not just another “state uni.”

hotdancer:

Read other thread regarding Wash U vs UNC.

To repeat myself, what are you looking for? Penn is a VERY different place than UNC…have you visited? The campus itself is small and surrounded by a very rough part of Philadelphia and while they have managed to create an “oasis” of sorts it is still very urban.

If you want to do premed you will work hard regardless of where you are, don’t think UNC will be a cake walk, but the academic environment/atmosphere will be more cooperative than at the other two schools which tend to have more “gunner” types, especially at Wash U. That said AFTER you have worked hard you’ll also find a more to do to and ways unwind at UNC.

I’m have been to all three schools and have friends whose children have attended all three as well. PM me if you have a more specific question.

You REALLY need to do it before deciding to go there…it is worlds apart from UNC and even very different than Wash U which does have a true campus that while in St. Louis, is in a more suburban neighborhood.
