UNC Webmail - Sent Items

My son approached me and asked for help in reviewing his "sent items" in his UNC mailbox. He could not find a sent items folder, and neither could I. I'm hoping a current or former student can clarify for us if you are able to view your sent items from your mailbox. I know this sounds bizarre, and I am hoping there is a setting somewhere which will allow him to see his sent messages!

Thanks!

this is from the unc help page… but I don’t think it works properly… so just follow the instructions, but go to the options and select to save in a new folder and name the folder and u’ll be able to go to the new folder from the top right drop down box from ur inbox…I hope that makes sense…

Webmail will automatically copy each message that you send to a designated sent-mail folder, if you have chosen to do so in the Webmail options. This setting is found in the Personal Information section of the Webmail options. You can also choose to save a copy in a folder you select from the Save a Copy in drop down menu at the top of the Message Composition window. Choosing a folder here only affects the action for that particular message, and will not change any settings in your Options.

edit:hmm… nvm, lol that didn’t work

Edit2: okay, I figured out a way to view your sent-mail folder…
just add “.sent-mail” at the end of the url of your mailbox… so the end of the url should read “…?mailbox=inbox.sent-mail” … I really hate UNC’s website… they have so many problems…

Great, thanks. That worked! But you would think that there would be an easier way. Like a folder that says “sent items.” LOL

If webmail at UNC works the same as the others I’ve used at other universities:

Click on the Options icon next to Address Book.

Click “Personal Information”

Click “save sent mail”

Select “create a new sent mail folder” from the drop-down menu.

Type “Sent Mail” in the pop up box.

Done! He should now have a sent mail folder.

Yeah, that’s what I was trying to say^^, but your instructions are much more clear than mine lol… and you can move the messages already saved from your default folder to your new folder…

Thank you so much. It worked!

It’s a good idea to set up a gmail account and have your unc mail sent there as well because gmail is so much easier to read sent mail in. It’s also better for searching for things and reading email in general!
