I’m having trouble on which college to attend. I’ve already been accepted to both. Both of these schools have great programs and are now competing rivals, but I’m sorta leaning to UNCC because I just happen to live nearby and its much more affordable. I considered NC State solely because of its national reputability. I don’t plan to stay in NC my entire life, and I just want the best outcome post graduation when it comes to employment. I know reputation isn’t what you should consider when choosing a college but I feel like it DOES give you an edge in competitive processes. To sum up my dilemma, UNCC keeps me financially stable. NC State does too, but not as much as UNCC.
Have you toured and visited both? If not, I would highly recommend that. With my kids, the visits certainly helped in making/confirming their decision. They both went to NCSU after considering Clemson, VaT, UVa, etc. They were looking at STEM majors however (ChemE and Physics) where NCSU has a larger advantage vs UNCC. Economics, they may be more equal. Still NCSU will have a larger network area than UNCC post graduate but NCSU is the largest school in the region (NC,SC,Va,Tn, and about the same size as UGa).
I assume you are in/near Charlotte since the tuition prices are very similar and it would be cheaper from the housing aspect. I like the idea of going ‘away’ to college, i.e. living on campus and away from home on most weekends. But affordability is a huge part of the decision, so you will have to determine that part.
Here is a comparison
