UNCC, UNCW, or App?

I have gotten into all three of these schools and I have no idea which one I would choose. I am still waiting to hear back from NC State and UNC, although I am not very confident I will get into either of them. I have toured UNCC and been to Appalachian’s campus plenty of times, and I am touring UNCW in a few weeks. I really liked UNCC’s campus but from what I have read, it sounds like it is the worst of the three academically. I do not really like the mountains so that kind of turns me off from Appalachian State. I have never been to Wilmington but I think that living by the beach would be cool, although they do lack a football team. Just looking for any feedback because I am clueless on which of these three I would choose.

I have toured UNCW 3 times with my kids and been to App twice. I also spend a lot of time in Wilmington as we have beach property there. UNCW is a pretty campus. My neighbor went there and was really happy. What are you going to study? I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these schools. Pick the one with the environment you like best and the one that has the strongest program for what you want to study. I know App has a housing shortage and you aren’t guaranteed housing after freshman year. I don’t think that is an issue at UNCW and I’m not familiar with UNCC to know if housing is an issue there.

As of right now I am leaning more towards UNCC because I love their modern campus. I am planning on studying something with business but I am not 100% sure yet. If I do choose business, I have heard that Charlotte is good because there are a lot of internship opportunities with businesses in the surrounding Charlotte area.

Really I’m not sure there is enough of a division academically to push you one way or the other - as an example when I worked at Deloitte we, and the other Big 4, recruited at all 3 and maybe had a slight preference for UNCC and App over Wilmington. But it was slight.

You’ve gotta like snow and ice to go to App - Boone is a very different place than Wilmington! UNCC is a bit of a sleeper - good school and the location is attractive from a business perspective but you can get an internship regardless of which of these three you attend.

Thank you for the feedback. Knowing the three are about even academically will definitly help me make my decision based on the one I like the most.

I know from my tours at UNCW they have a mentor program in their business school that sounds attractive. More info here: https://csb.uncw.edu/exec/index.html
