Which of these schools is better for business? They seem to have pretty similar stats, but a lot of people seem to dislike UNCC, saying that the professors don’t care, that it’s a commuter school, etc.
However, people also say that UNCC is a good school to go to for business, noting the opportunities that Charlotte provides.
I’ve toured UNCG, but haven’t had a chance to tour UNCC yet. I liked UNCG’s campus well enough, however, I wasn’t really a fan of Greensboro as a city. I really love Charlotte though. Also, I’m from Charlotte, so I know the city, good places to eat, etc.
Also, how would UNCA compare to them for business? They’re a liberal arts college, so I’m not sure how good their business school would be, but I know that they have a generally better reputation than UNCC and UNCG.
These three schools are very different as you probably know. I don’t believe UNC-A has a “business school” but you could major in accounting or management. I understand what you are saying about these schools reputations, but I wouldn’t get to tangled up in that. Are you applying now, or do you have another year? As far as UNCA, UNCG and UNCC, they each have a very different feel, I think a campus visit could help you narrow things down. And make appointments to meet with someone in the departments you are considering, talk to them about the opportunities offered.
Don’t over think the town size and location, after Charlotte everything will feel small, but you have the opportunity to go home to CLT on breaks so that works in your favor.
As for UNCC - are you okay with the idea of staying in Charlotte for school? I am in Raleigh, and some kids really have an issue with staying here, even thought NCSU is a great school.
UNCC > UNCG for business by quite a bit. It’s UNCC’s strength, but a weakness at UNCG. I also personally think of UNCC as a slightly better school overall.
@NCdude245 Why would you say that UNCC is better? @LBad96 Why would you say that App State is better? @ITBgirl Which do you think is better? (out of UNCC and App State, for business)
Much more opportunity in charlotte concerning internships and job placement. Experience in a big and growing city. The Belk college of Business is very respected and decently ranked.
I would agree that the Business school at UNCC is stronger than App. The setting in Charlotte, and the money that the area business are putting into UNCC is impressive. App is a smaller school and the seclusion is an issue for some programs IMO. App is very popular in NC these past few years and has increased their admission standards drastically in the last 7 years, but to me it is a love it or hate it kind of place, you really need to go visit.
Have you been meeting with the different reps when they come to your HS? While they are all there to sell their schools you can still get some good ideas and ask questions.
I plan to apply to UNCA, UNCC, UNCW, NCSU, UNC, and App State. I’ll post a thread telling people my GPA, test scores, extracurriculars, and majors. I’ll also say the reaction of each college. It’ll come whenever I finally decide what college to go to. It’ll probably be a while before it pops up.
