Uncertain on Where I Should Attend?

If you guys were in my shoes, where would you attend?

I was accepted to almost all of the places I applied to except for UC Davis in which I waitlisted, but now I’m having difficulty on deciding where I should go and I’m not really sure what I want anymore.

I’ll list where I’ve been accepted to with the major:

  • UC Irvine: Biological Sciences
  • UC Santa Cruz: Human Biology
  • UC San Diego: Human Biology
  • CSU Long Beach: Pre-Biochemistry
  • CSU Los Angeles: Biochemistry
  • CSU Dominguez Hills: Biochemistry

My top choices and the ones I’m most interested in are UC Irvine and UC Santa, but I can’t decide which one I like the most.

UCSC is a beautiful campus. I’d pick it for that reason alone, but obviously, that’s not the most important consideration. Have you visited both campuses?

Are costs an issue including transportation costs (if warranted?). Both schools academically will give you an excellent education so does it come down to social and financial considerations? Definitely visit both campuses, if you have not done so already. Talk to current students about likes/dislikes for each. See you can talk to the major departments to get a feel for the types of courses, professors, research/job/internship opportunities etc…
I am sure one of the two campuses will end up being your top pick.

Cost aside, if you’re interested in biology, I’d recommend UCSC or UCSD, though UCI is good too. These three have excellent reputations in biological/biomedical sciences. The two posters above me also pointed out very important things to consider too!!

I am assuming you are in-state? Net costs after financial aid?

I would knock out the CSU’s unless finances were prohibitive of you going to the UCs.

why not UCSD?
