Unclear about choosing majors

<p>Hi all, I'm a international student from Malaysia, I just got admitted to my first choice major, PetroEng in Cockrell. I would be grateful for any help on these two questions. I've read through the website but I'm still a little unsure.</p>

<p>1) Is it possible to enroll in the Plan װ Honors Program (is there just a Plan װ program?) while being in the Engineering program and then do them both?</p>

<p>2) Can I apply for honors in both programs after my first year? Is it typical of first-year students to do so? I canceled my honors application earlier on due to some complications.

<p>I think that if you have not already been named as part of Plan II, it will not be possible for you to join it after you come to UT. If you are very interested in a broader course of study with your engineering major, you might consider a double major in one of the areas in the College of Liberal Arts or perhaps in the (flexible but very challenging) Humanities Major. Engineering Honors Program for Current Students (Invitation Only)</p>

<p>After the first year, the engineering student who has completed at least 24 semester credit hours “in residence” with at least 60 semester credit hours remaining in the degree program and holds at least a 3.5 “in residence” GPA may be eligible to apply to the EHP. Selection is based on Class Rank in his or her degree plan class, “in residence” GPA in courses counted toward the degree, Extracurricular Activities, Letters of Recommendation from Faculty, and Faculty Review. Once accepted to the EHP, the student would remain in the program so long as his or her “in residence” GPA was 3.5 or higher. Evaluations will be done once each year after spring grades.
