Unconvential Essay...prose poetry. allowed?

So I've been writing so much trying to spark ideas for my essay. Some of my stuff is more formal, but a lot of it has a more...freeflowing, poetry-esqe feel to it. I was wondering if it is ok so write more of an unconvential essay? As in...not so much of an essay as it is a prose poem.

My only worries are that grammer rules are sometimes ignored when I write in this style. But I feel like it's my most natural form of writing, so I think that's how I should write to let colleges know about me.

Anyways, have any of you heard of people writing more in this style? It has some aspects that are very much stream of conscious, which I may or may not edit out.

I realize this post is probably kind of confusing, and not all too specific. I have some examples of my writing if any of you need an idea of it to tell me if it is acceptable or not! Thanks for your opinions!

Two things occur to me.

I don't recommend ignoring the rules of grammar on the theory that that approach represents your most natural form of writing.

Give some thought to how clear and readable your results are. Your readers will not have the time to try to puzzle things out.

So you think that as long as my thoughts are clear, readable, and gramatically correct I should be ok?

Those are necessary imo to give yourself the best chance of having the essay help you in admissions. Necessary, but not sufficient.

Also aim for personal, detailed, honest and revealing writing. Aim for something that only you could write.
